When you receive a phone call on your smartphone, the name of the person calling will appear on your phone. Additionally, if you’ve added a picture into your phonebook for the person who is calling you, their picture will appear as well. Under the name and picture, two icons will appear, one red and one green. These icons will let you answer the call if you’re available to speak (green icon), or ignore the call if you are busy or unable to speak (red icon). How to Download Apps on the Jitterbug Touch3 Smartphone

To download an app to your Jitterbug Touch you must first access the PlayStore from your phone. From the Home Tab, TAP All Apps. Scroll down the alphabetical apps list to find PlayStore and TAP once to open the app. If this is the first time you are logging in, you should see all the app categories on top of the page such as, Apps, Games, Movies & TV, Music, Books, and Newsstand. Then you will see some of the popular apps available below. Let us go over the categories: • Apps are different applications you can download to your Touch, depending on your interests. • Games have a variety of games you can download to your phone, which can be fun and helpful to pass time. • Movies & TV are movies and TV shows you can purchase or rent from the PlayStore. • Music will provide a variety of songs and albums from different genres you can purchase and download directly to your Touch. • Books will list a wide range of books from fiction, nonfiction, self-help and more depending on your interest. • Newsstand will provide different apps you can download to help you keep up with current events. Now that we have covered all the categories, let us go over what an app is. An App is short for Applications. Similar to applications on your computers at home, many of the applications can be easily accessed by double clicking on the shortcut. Apps are shortcuts on your phone that you can easily TAP once to open to open an application on your phone. There are many applications created for different websites to make it easy to view on a mobile device. Now that you know what an app is, let us go over the difference between a paid and a free app. Go ahead and TAP on the Apps category to show you can tell what is a free app and a paid app. You will notice on top of the App screen the different subcategories such as “Top Paid”, “Top Free”, “Top Grossing”, “Top New Paid”, “Top New Free”, and “Trending”. These subcategories will make is easier to find what you are looking for. • TAP on Top Paid to see a list of the most popular paid apps based on how many downloads overall. These apps will indicate a price next to them and will require a credit card on file to purchase and download. • TAP on Top Free to see a list the most popular free app based on how many downloads overall. These apps will indicate “Free” and does not require a credit card on file to download. • TAP on Top Grossing to see a list of apps that have the most revenue. Most of these apps are free but some may require subscriptions. • TAP on Top New Paid to see a list of the new paid apps. Again, just like Top Paid apps, these apps will require a credit card on file to purchase and download. • TAP on Top New Free to see a list of new free apps. Similar to Top Free Apps you can download these apps free. • Now TAP on “Trending” to see a list of apps that are recently becoming more popular. Now it is time to download an app. While in the PlayStore tap on the magnifying glass button to initiate a search for a specific app. TAP on the Search Google field and start typing the specific app you are looking for. As you type, you will notice a list of recommendations below. If anything on the list matches what you are searching for, TAP on that line. The download screen will display on your screen and it will provide the following: • Video tutorial for the app (if available) • Ratings and Overall downloads • App Description • And if you keep scrolling down you will see reviews for the app, this can be helpful to see what your peers are saying about this app. Since the app is free to download, you will notice the “Install” button next to the app logo. TAP Install to initiate the download to your device. Tapping install will take you to the App Permissions page. The list items will vary depending on the app you are attempting to download. Next, TAP Accept to allow the application to have access to the items listed. Once you Tap Accept the download process will begin, you will notice the animated arrow on your status notification bar indicating the download. You will also notice the progress bar and the file size next to the app logo. If you wish to cancel the download at this time, you may do so by tapping on the X next to the progress bar or wait to complete the download. Once the download is complete, an Open button and Uninstall button will show in replacement of the Install button. To open the app you just downloaded TAP Open.

What’s the Difference between Cellular and Wi-Fi Data? So you want to know the difference between cellular and Wi-Fi data? Let’s start with what data is. Data is electronic information that’s sent from and to your phone. You use data when you: • Share photos or videos via email or on social media sites like Facebook • Send and receive email messages • Browse the Internet • Watch streaming videos on a website or using an app like YouTube™ • Listen to streaming music on a website or using an app like Pandora® • Follow turn-by-turn directions using the Maps App, or • Download apps from the Google Play™ Store Your Jitterbug Touch is automatically connected to a cellular network that is nationwide so you can rely on a connection just about anywhere you go. Just remember that when you’re connected on a cellular network, data is deducted from your monthly plan. Your Jitterbug Touch is also compatible with most Wi-Fi networks to access high-speed Internet without having to worry about using up your GreatCall data plan. So why not use Wi-Fi all the time? Well, while a cellular network is virtually everywhere, Wi-Fi has a more limited range. Fortunately, these days, most homes, businesses, and even airports provide free Wi-Fi. Consider connecting to these Wi-Fi networks, whenever possible.

How to Turn Data On and Off on the Jitterbug Touch3 Smartphone

All of our phones, personalized services and customizable applications are easy to set up, easy to use, and keep you connected, safe and healthy™ wherever you go. Turning off Mobile Data on your Jitterbug Touch can be helpful in times you have gone over your allotted data plan or when you are simply trying to conserve or reserve your data for when you need it. To turn your Mobile Data off, TAP the All Apps button from the Home Tab. Scroll down the alphabetical list to find Settings App TAP the Settings App to open app you Settings Menu If you are not already on the Connection Tab, TAP on the Connection tab Now TAP on Data Usage From the Data Usage Menu, TAP the Mobile Data check box to remove the check mark. Please note, you will not be able access the internet or access Apps that require the internet on your Jitterbug Touch unless you are connected to WiFi while Mobile Data is turned off. Once you check the box to turn off your Mobile Data, you will receive a message to confirm you would like to turn it off with the disclosure mentioned earlier. TAP Cancel if you do not want to turn off your Mobile Data or TAP OK to confirm you would like to turn off Mobile Data. Once you confirm to turn it off, the 3G mobile data icon will disappear from your Status Notification Bar. To turn on your Mobile Data, you can simply follow the same instructions, but we will also show you a shortcut to access you Settings from the Status Notification Bar to do so. From the Home Tab, hold down on top of the screen and slide your finger down to open up your Status Notification Bar. You will notice the Settings icon next to the time and date on top of the screen TAP the Settings icon to open up you Settings Menu If you are not on the Connection tab already, TAP on the Connection Tab TAP Data Usage Then TAP on the Mobile Data check box to add a check mark to turn on Mobile Data. To confirm your Mobile Data is turned on, you will notice that the 3G icon is back on your Notification Status Bar.

How to Sign In to an Existing Google Account on the Jitterbug Touch3 Smartphone

Signing on with an Existing Google Account If you already have a Google account and would like to sign on your Jitterbug Touch using your existing account, this tutorial will walk you through the process. Before we begin this tutorial, please make sure you have you google email address and password available. To set up your Jitterbug Touch with your existing Google account, from the Home Tab TAP the All Apps buttons. Scroll down the alphabetical apps list to find the Settings App. Tap on the Settings App, then TAP the Accounts Tab from the Setting Menu. TAP Add Account, then TAP Google. The Google Set up wizard will display on your screen. Now TAP Existing. The setup wizard will now ask you to sign in. TAP on the email field and start typing your email address. Now TAP on the Password field and start typing your password. When you are done, TAP the right arrow button to continue. A pop up will appear with a google terms of service disclosure, TAP OK to agree. If the email and/or password combination is inaccurate, the “couldn’t sign in” page will appear on your screen. TAP Try Again to take you back the Sign In screen to make the proper corrections. Once the corrections have been made, TAP the right arrow button and TAP OK to accept the Term of Service disclosure. Once you signed on you will be taken to the Google+ setup process. Google+ plus is Google’s social networking site and for this tutorial we are going to skip this step. To skip this step, TAP Not Now Next your will be taken to the Google Services screen, with options to have Google services back up your contacts automatically when you enter a new contact on your phone. (This can be helpful if you switch to another android phone or if you need to reset your device in the future) You will also see an option for Communication, so that you can keep up with the latest news from Google. To select any of these two options, leave the boxes checked. Otherwise, uncheck the boxes to opt out. When you’re ready, TAP the right arrow button to continue. Great! You are almost finished, now it is time to accept the Google Terms and Conditions to complete the setup of your new Google Account. TAP, “I accept” to complete the setup. Now its time to authenticate that you are an actual human being. TAP the text line to activate your keyboard and start typing the text you see above the text line. As soon as you unlock your Jitterbug Touch for the first time, you’ll see the GreatCall Home Screen. From this screen you can access all the features of your phone. It’s designed to be simple, so you can easily locate the apps and people that are most important to you without having to search through countless lists and icons. You’ll notice there are two main tabs – Home and People. The Home tab displays your favorite apps. You’ll start with GreatCall’s most popular ones: • Phone – to make and receive calls. Your Touch also features a visual Voicemail Inbox that allows you to quickly listen to and manage your voice messages directly from the touch screen. • Voicemail – to listen to voice messages people have left for you • Text Messages – to send and receive text messages • Camera – to capture photos and videos • Photo Album – to view your favorite photo or video moments, and • Urgent Care – to get unlimited access to nurses and doctors wherever you go, 24/7 You can change the order of the apps on your Home Tab by pressing and holding the App and dragging it up or down the list. To remove an app from the Home Tab, tap the menu button, then tap Remove Favorites. Then tap the app or apps you want to remove. Finally, tap OK to confirm. This doesn’t remove the app from your phone, just from your Home Tab. You can move or remove any app except the Phone app. To see a full list of all the apps on your phone, tap All Apps in the lower left corner of the Home Tab. Swipe your finger up or down to scroll through the list. If you see an app that you want to add to your Favorites list on the Home Tab, press and hold the app. You’ll an Add to Favorites pop up window. Tap ok to confirm your choice. A message that says “Added to Favorites” will appear. Now, when you push the home button at the bottom of the phone, you’ll see your selected app added to the screen. Now let’s move to the People tab. This is where you can create a list of your favorite contacts which makes dialing friends and family quick and convenient. To add a Favorite contact to your People Tab, tap the All People button. You’ll see a list of all your contacts, much like an address book. If you need help adding contacts, be sure to watch the video on how to add a new People Contact. Once you have a few contacts, just press and hold on their name. The Add to Favorites pop-up box will appear. Tap OK to confirm. Now when you return to the People tab by pressing the back button, you’ll see the favorite you add. How to Create a New Google Account on the Jitterbug Touch3 Smartphone

To experience all the capabilities of your Jitterbug Touch you will need a Google Account. A Google Account will allow you to download apps, back up your contacts and more. In this tutorial, we will show you how to create a Google Account and show you how to log in to your Google Account if you already have an existing account. To create a new Google Account, from the Home Tab, TAP All Apps and scroll down the alphabetical list of apps to find Settings. TAP on the Settings App and then TAP on the Accounts Tab from the Settings Menu. Once you are on the Accounts Menu, TAP “Add account”. The “Add Account” menu will display on your screen, TAP on the Google option. Now you should see the Google Account Setup wizard To create a new Google Account, TAP New You will be asked to enter your first and last name, TAP on the First Name line and start typing your first name. Once you have finished typing your first name, TAP Next on your keyboard. Now start typing your last name. Once you have completed typing your last name, TAP right arrow button to continue. Now you will be asked to enter an email address of your choice. Once you have completed typing the email address of your choice, TAP the right arrow button. Your phone will check to see if a different user already owns the email address you entered, if so you will be re-directed to the Change Username screen and you will have to re-enter a different email address. You can also see some suggestions of email addresses that are available by TAPPING on the “Touch for suggestion” dropdown. If you like one of the suggestions, simply TAP on that email address to select it. Otherwise, TAP the back button on your phone and edit the previous email address you entered, then TAP “Try Again” Once your email is accepted you will be prompted to enter a password and confirm it. Eight characters are required for your password and if your password is indicated “poor” under the password field; your phone will not allow you to move forward since your password can be easily compromised. We recommend you enter a password that shows fair or strong. To type your password, TAP on the Password field and start typing a password, then TAP on the Re-type password field and re-type the same password you entered on the previous line. TAP the right arrow button to continue Now, you will be asked to setup a password recovery email address. So that is you forget your password, an email can be sent to this alternative email address with instructions on how to recover your password. (If you do not have an alternative email or if you would like to skip this step, TAP Not Now to this step) To set up a password recover email address TAP “Set up recovery options” You service number is automatically populated on the first line. TAP on the Backup email line and start typing your alternative email address. Then TAP the right arrow button to continue After you setting up an alternative email or skipped this step, you will be taken to the Google+ setup process. Google+ plus is Google’s social networking site and for this tutorial we are going to skip this step. To skip this step, TAP Not Now Next your will be taken to the Google Services screen, with options to have Google services back up your contacts automatically when you enter a new contact on your phone. (This can be helpful if you switch to another android phone or if you need to reset your device in the future) You will also see an option for Communication, so that you can keep up with the latest news from Google. To select any of these two options, leave the boxes checked. Otherwise, uncheck the boxes to opt out. When you’re ready, TAP the right arrow button to continue. Great! You are almost finished, now it is time to accept the Google Terms and Conditions to complete the setup of your new Google Account. TAP, “I accept” to complete the setup. Now its time to authenticate that you are an actual human being. TAP the text line to activate your keyboard and start typing the text you see above the text line. Then TAP the right arrow button to continue. It may take a few moments to save all the information you provided. When your account is created you will be taken to the Set payment info screen. What is the Difference Between Cellular and Wi-Fi Data?

Here’s how to connect your Jitterbug Touch to a Wi-Fi network There are three parts: turning Wi-Fi on, choosing the network you want to connect to, and entering a password if it’s required. To turn Wi-Fi on, tap the Menu button just left of the home button at the bottom of your phone. In the menu that appears, tap Options. Now tap Wi-Fi. If OFF appears in the top right corner, tap it once to switch Wi-Fi on. Now you can move on to the second step. Once Wi-Fi is on, your Touch will perform a scan and display a list of available networks in your area. Tap on the name of the network you want to connect to. GreatCall recommends that you only connect to known Wi-Fi networks you trust. Connecting to unsecure Wi-Fi networks in public places may increase your risk to security threats. Many networks are secure. That means only those with a password can connect. If your chosen network is unsecure, you’ll be connected right away. If it’s secure, a window will appear asking you to enter a password. Use the keyboard at the bottom to type it in. Checking the show password box will help you to enter your password exactly as required. For example, it matters whether a letter is capitalized or not. Next, tap Connect. Once you’re connected, you should see the word Connected below your selected Wi-Fi network. You’ll also see the Wi-Fi icon in the Status Bar at the top of your screen. If you don’t see this icon, you are not connected to a Wi-Fi network. Want to know a shortcut? You can turn Wi-Fi on or off using your quick settings in the Notification bar. Just press and hold the status bar and drag it down to the bottom of the screen. Tap the Wi-Fi icon to toggle Wi-Fi on or off. Drag the notification panel back up to the top of the screen when you’re finished.

How to Use Voice Search on the Jitterbug Touch3 Smartphone

Voice search is an app in your Jitterbug Touch that you can use to make it easier to find information on the internet. You can ask questions like, “How many pints are in a gallon?” or simply say one word like “dogs” and Voice Search will do the rest. To use Voice Search, from the Home Tab, TAP the All Apps and scroll down the alphabetical apps list to find Voice Search. TAP on the Voice Search app open it. The border around the mic will show an animation to indicate that it is currently listening. For the best accuracy, make sure the phone is within 8 to 12 inches away from your mouth. To initiate your search request, TAP on the mic icon to tell the app to start listening. While it is listening, state your request. Once it detects you are speaking, the app will start searching the internet and list the search results below the search bar.

Setup and Check Your Voicemail How to setup and check voicemail on your Jitterbug Touch. Your Jitterbug Touch features a visual voicemail inbox that allows you to quickly listen to and manage your voice messages directly from the touch screen. This video will show you how to setup your personal voicemail greeting, check voicemail messages in your inbox, and return the call of someone that left you a voice message. First, you’ll want to record a personalized greeting. Anyone that reaches your voicemail, when you miss their call, will hear your voice asking them to leave a message. If you don’t record a personalized greeting, your callers will hear a standard pre-recorded greeting instead. To record a personalized greeting, tap the Voicemail icon located on the Home Tab next to Phone Button. Next, tap the Menu button at the bottom of the phone. Then tap Personalized Greeting. When you’re ready, tap the red record button and speak clearly into the microphone located at the bottom of the phone. When you’re finished speaking, tap the Stop button. Tap the Play button to review your recording. If everything sounds ok, tap Save. Otherwise, tap Discard to delete the recording. Finally, tap Return to Voicemail at the bottom of the screen to go back to your voicemail inbox. Once your voicemail is set up, unanswered calls to your phone are automatically transferred to your voicemail, even if your phone is in use or turned off. Your Jitterbug Touch features several ways to let you know that a new voicemail message is waiting for you. If you have a new message, you’ll see the voicemail icon in the Status Bar at the top of your screen. The voicemail icon will also appear in the Lock Screen Missed Events Panel. And the Voicemail button on the Home Tab will show a number indicating the number of unheard voicemail messages. To listen to a voicemail message, tap the Voicemail icon on the Home Tab. This takes you to the voicemail inbox screen. Downloading your latest voicemail messages requires wireless data connectivity, so you’ll want to be sure you have access to wireless data. To learn more about data watch our videos on cellular and Wi-Fi data. If for some reason you do not have access to wireless data, you can call the voice message system and manage your voicemail through with traditional voice prompts. To do this, tap the menu button at the bottom of the phone. Then tap Call Voicemail. Follow the prompts and use the onscreen keypad. TAP the End Call Button at any time to disconnect from the voicemail system. Keep in mind that calling in for voicemail messages uses your talk time minutes. Here in your voicemail inbox, a green Play button means the message is new and you haven’t listened to it yet. A grey Play button means you’ve already listened to it. Tap the message you’d like hear to see more detail. Your message will begin playing automatically through the phone earpiece. If you’d like to hear the message through the phone’s speaker, tap the Speaker button. To skip ahead or go back while the message is playing, press and hold the grey slider while you move your finger back and forth along the progress bar. The number to the right of the bar indicates your position in time according to the duration of the message. You can also pause the audio or delete the message entirely. And last but not least, tap the call button to call back the person that left you a message. Back at the Voicemail Inbox screen, you can also delete all voicemail messages at once. Just tap the menu button at the bottom of the phone and tap Delete All. Then tap OK to confirm. Use caution because you will not be able to retrieve any voice messages once they’re deleted. And that’s how to setup and check voicemail on your Jitterbug Touch.
