90% of traders lose money... http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/Lose-money.html So how to be in the top 10%? Francis Hunt a technical analysis trader and coach comments. What are the bad habits to avoid? What are some trading mistakes to avoid? Is trading forex, indices and commodities a giant casino? Decide on a strategy that looks after all elements of money management. You've got to manage losses and you need to have a system that will make more money than it loses. Patterns are probably the most important technical analysis tool for me. Technical Analysis: Why it Works and its Limitations

Technical Analysis: Why it Works and its Limitations. Francis Hunt, a technical analysis trader and coach comments. If you've found this video useful, please click the like button and share it with your friends and remember to SUBSCRIBE to remain up-to-date! Do you really believe that technical analysis can help traders? In what ways? How can a chart help forecast future prices if they are based on the past? Do you base your trading solely on technical or do you also use fundamental analysis? Can technical analysis by itself be the mainstay of an investment strategy? We know that in practice what happens in reality is that one piece of real news can blow up months of small technical gains. Please comment. Technical analysis works for me but I've selected the elements that work for me and there are limitations. There are a number of concepts that I feel don't work and which I avoid. Traders are taught indicators and moving averages; many of which are lagging the price action. I think there is too much fascination on indicators and too many traders get caught up trying to seek price tops or bottoms. I think price action is often de-emphasised. I do value volume and things like bollinger bands. I also use chart patterns as these capture people's footprints and DNA of a crowd's response to certain impulses.

If you've found this video useful, please click the like button and share it with your friends and remember to SUBSCRIBE to remain up-to-date! Things that are familiar give you a degree of comfort so trading equities (shares) and big companies is not a false start. If starting out, steer clear of small caps and AIM shares which are highly speculative and importantly develop your emotion, system and strategy while doing this. Sticking to FTSE 250 companies is sound. Make sure you are not emotionally distressed or tired when trading. I have opened a trading account but how do I start picking which stocks to trade?

Short-Term versus Long-Term Trading

Short-Term versus Long-Term Trading. Francis Hunt a technical analysis trader and coach comments. If you've found this video useful, please click the like button and share it with your friends and remember to SUBSCRIBE to remain up-to-date! I think for learning people should start with a demo account or use very small stakes to trade on short-term time frames as that helps you develop the trading mindset. After a while you should look to trade over longer time frames. Several traders use ATR as part of their sell strategy. My question is how in practice do you actually do it? All average true range measures is how much a price has varied during a particular time frame session. As such it is measuring the impulsiveness or the volatility more accurately of a market's move. What other indicators have people found to have the best outcome when used with ATR. For example would you only sell if ATR broken AND the share price is below certain moving average or MACD cross etc?

Preparing to Profit from the next Stock Market Crash

05:16
What are the best things to invest in if you think the market will crash? Francis Hunt a technical analysis trader and coach comments. In the long run this becomes a fundamental discussion; we are currently in a fantasy kind business environment where no real interest is being paid; the liquidity this is creating is not finding its way to small businesses. In the long run we will likely have a black swan event; a market reset correction if one may but it will be unexpected. Keep cash alternatives in intrinsic physical metals; do not be highly leveraged in property. I think anyone that resets an imbalance is beneficial in the long run. Why should investors consider trading at this point in time? I think everyone should have a savings and investment plan and that's different to trading; I think leverage and trading is something that you have earn the right to. For someone new I would ask him if he's got the patience and to demonstrate that he's not in it to get rich fast. Trading requires patience and if you lose 50% of your capital; the likelihood of you making back 100% back is low so people tend to increase stake sizes.

I don't use many technical indicators; I do use on balance volume where equities and commodities are concerned. I don't use Bollinger Bands anymore although it can be useful. I wouldn't trade a moving average strategy; once you've been in the market for a while you should get a grasp of what the market is doing. Dow Theory is quite useful; understanding higher highs and lower lows in particular.

If you've found this video useful, please click the like button and share it with your friends and remember to SUBSCRIBE to remain up-to-date! The efficient market hypothesis states that you will always revert to mean even if you may have periods of crowd psychology and market distortions. I feel the efficient market hypothesis in the long run has its grounds but the market is far from efficient in truth. I believe that timing is possible and in select circumstances can even become more probable but it is never guaranteed. There is an addictive element to excitement and you have to manage that.

Understanding Leverage in Forex Trading and the Dangers of Margin Trading

Leverage can vary hugely from one broker to another; the standard leverage in the forex market is 1:200 leverage. So if you're trading a $100,000 or 1 lot in MT4 terminology, then you would have to put in $500 of your own money. So in recent years we've seen brokers offering leverage of up to 1:500 and this is also demanded by clients but more leverage means more risk

Strategy, Market Conditions and Trading Frequency

08:05
Francis Hunt a technical analysis traders and coach comments.on ideal market conditions and trade frequency. My ideal markets are reasonably trending with normal continuation because that's what what I trade. There are many markets out there so one could look at commodities, equities and currency pairs; the opportunities are endless. What are the market conditions that you consider ideal, and which ones are the most challenging, for the performance of your strategy? When developing a strategy, do you give a higher priority to building entry signals, exit signals or money management rules? I think money management and particularly the risk/reward ratio are very important. Do you favor any particular timeframe in your strategies? What is your average trade duration and trading frequency? Greed keeps you in a trade, pains is what takes you out. The money management is key. Zoe Fiddes, Head of Sales at ORE.com comments. One of the most common trading strategies is swing trading where you hold a position for a set time based on where you expect the market to move over this timeframe. With trend trading you have to consider how much the market could potentially move against you before turning your way. It could be a good idea to protect your profits as time goes on and you can do this by adjusting your stop loss. Some people like to trade on smaller timeframes which can be difficult and pretty exhausting.

So when you start in the forex markets there are some central themes that you need to understand like the deal size that you're trading, the extent of margin you are using and where you intend to use the stop loss. The next thing is that traders often only consider market direction but they forget about volatility because a trade might move from one point to another during a trading day but between those points it can go hugely up or down. If you haven't considered the volatility, how can you have any idea where to place the stop loss order. If you know that the market is likely to be more volatile, then you might want to use a smaller stake size or use a wider stop loss.

Central Bank Intervention – the reasons and its effects on the FX Market What drives exchange rates? What is the foreign exchange market? Where is the central location of the Forex Market? So there are a number of factors that affect the price movements of forex currencies. You've got your technicals and fundamentals; fundamentals is looking at the economics of the countries you are evaluating. For example interest rates and GDP. Every country has a central bank and the main role of the central bank is to stabilise and grow the economy. So the central banks have certain powers to help the economy when its needed; so for instance they have the power to control interest rates. So when an economy is doing well, central banks will put up interest rates so as to control spending because you don't want an economy to grow too fast as that doesn't help stability. Sometimes, this isn't enough and that's why central banks make use of instruments like quantitative easing. You might also have heard of the term currency wars... Central banks are supposed to operate independently of governments however in practice they work together.

Francis Hunt aka The Market Sniper

Francis Hunt aka The Market Sniper introduces himself. Tell us about your background. You started trading at the tender age of 21 years back in 1989. You are a technical analysis trader and coach – what makes you qualified to teach others to trade? Tell us more. What makes someone qualified to be a trader and teach others is a combination of things; there is no official degree or tertiary education for trading. Experience and time in the markets is probably the key parameters I developed a great interest from a very young age. I was fortunate to have my parents activiely involved in unit trusts and there was this money being made while they they toiling. They also used to check them in newspapers and I found all this very interesting. In August 1987 I took all my savings and put them in the stock market just in time to capture the 35% capitulation of the market of the October 1987 crash so that was my baptism of fire in the markets.

Why do you trade the FTSE 100?

02:43
Interview with Tim Young - a FTSE 100 day trader who trades at Ayondo http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/ccount/click.php?id=72 So are you essentially day trading the FTSE? Tim Young, a FTSE day trader comments. You rely on mean reversion when trading the FTSE. What is mean reversion. Tell us more. I once heard someone say 'Trying to predict the FTSE is trying to guess where a spider is trying to crawl' the FTSE is made of 100 different shares and that by itself limits the volatility. I like the fact that the FTSE has a tendency to trade range bound which allows me to make quick wins. It is also a 24 hour market

What new analysis and technical analysis indicators are catching on?

03:37
What new analysis and technical analysis indicators are catching on? Francis Hunt a technical analysis trader and coach comments. For me the history of technical analysis is grounded in the glory days of 20's and 30's; you have the Dow Theory and Gann and all the big names that made big contributions. There are people like John Bollinger that also made contributions but the basic principles still remain relevant today even after those years. Why are China and Russia buying all the Gold?

03:33
Why are China and Russia buying all the Gold? Charles Gibson: Head of Mining at Edison Research comments. China is buying all the gold they can find and the western central banks and governments are selling. Is this wise for the western world? Why are China and Russia buying all the Gold? I think this reflects a natural shift in economic power from the West towards the East. China is buying gold for very good economic reasons. Western banks were selling in the 1990's but they have stopped although they aren't buying. I think this all points that the Renmindi is likely to become a global reserve currency at some point in the future.

Is the present stock price of a company a good indicator of a company's future?

03:55
Is the present stock price of a company a good indicator of a company's future? Do broker recommendations fundamentally move stock prices? Francis Hunt a technical analysis trader and coach comments. A market is a collection of opinions and the biggest players have the biggest vote in that opinion. The biggest players will stay very close to management and will want to know much of what management is doing. However, we also have extreme sentiment days when the whole market will be effected. Interview with Nicole Elliot, technical analyst and private investor. If you've found this video useful, please click the like button and share it with your friends and remember to SUBSCRIBE to remain up-to-date! How and when did you first become interested in the markets? What did you learn in those early days? It is like a jigsaw puzzle, I know I have all the pieces but I don't know what the picture is going to be like, that is the challenge. It is all based on technical analysis which is the study of price action and historical prices; different ways of charting, different oscillators that we might use and so on and so forth. I never thought in the early days that I'll end up being a banker or chartist...

Are most private traders doomed to lose money?

07:00
Are most private traders doomed to lose money? Lucian Miers, a renowned short seller comments. Why do people buy shares whose numbers show them to be expensive or poor quality? PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE so we can bring you more! Yes, I'm afraid so - the average is quite scary. In your experience what are the most common trader errors and how can they best be avoided? Overconfidence, improper use of leverage, betting too big with limited resources, inexperience, stupidity, trusting people.. Never believe anything that any director tells you; assume that any director talking to you is lying to you because more often than not these guys are just promoters; snake oil salesmen if you may. People are naturally optimistic, they want to believe the dream and some of the share promoters are some of the most charming and persuasive people around. Most of these people just want their money so they can live comfortable lifestyles. If you want to become successful you need to stop being emotional particularly if a position is going against you. Its very easy to become angry and emotional. If you've found this video useful, please click the like button and share it with your friends and remember to SUBSCRIBE to remain up-to-date!
