The Giant Holes: Super Pit gold mine, Kalgoorlie-Australia #Vendora
The Fimiston Open Pit, colloquially known as the Super Pit, is Australia's largest open cut gold mine. The Super Pit is located off the Goldfields Highway on the south-east edge of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The pit is oblong in shape and is approximately 3.5 kilometres long, 1.5 kilometres wide and 570 metres deep. At these dimensions, it is large enough to be seen from space. The Super Pit is owned by Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd, a company owned 50/50 by Barrick Gold Corporation and Newmont Mining Corporation. The mine produces 850,000 ounces (28 tonnes) of gold per year, and employs around 550 employees directly on site.

The quiet Victorian town of Wedderburn (150 miles from Melbourne) has suddenly hit the news with its discovery of gold. The whole amazing story began when Albert Smith discovered a thousand pound nugget; he staked a claim and started digging for the main reef - in the main street. The Children Risking Their Lives In Underwater Gold Mines

Desperate men and children scour underwater mine-shafts in this terrifying report. Breathing through nothing more than a thin pipe connected to an air compressor, going 30 foot deep underwater for hours in search of gold is all in a day’s work for 16-year-old Gerald. "I'm afraid, if the earth collapses, I will get buried underneath" says the teenager. Surrounded by rock walls in the pitch black darkness of the water, the men chip away at walls for 3 hours. They find no gold. For many like Gerald school is a distant memory, and illegally diving for gold the only alternative to starvation. Hundreds of deaths by electrocution, drowning and even the possibility of Mercury poisoning have had little impact on compressor mining activities, which continue un-policed and unregulated. There appears little hope of change on the horizon. "If I could only give job opportunities - I will take them away from compressor mining. It is just that I have no alternative at this point" says Ricarte Padilla, Mayor of Jose Panganiban - Philippines' so-called "Gold Coast". As it is, the children and family men unearthing 60-80kg of gold per month see the lions share of wealth disappear into the Chinese black market. Baker City Prospecting Full Length Movie
Brian Bolin teaches you all you need to know about prospecting for gold and gems in Baker County. In the event that you live on the North Eastern shore of the US in a zone that does not have characteristic gold stores, presumably the most obvious opportunity you need to search for gold in regions where the icy masses dumped their waste. All things considered, back to "some rubbish is other individuals' fortune," and that is the thing that we have with what the ice sheets dumped on us. It can allow you to experiment with the gold prospecting side interest close to your home before wandering off to a gold bearing district. In southwestern PA and Eastern Ohio we have a chance to make a go at searching for these frosty stores that are known not Fine Gold, Raw Diamonds and little Platinum. These are extremely fun and productive to discover. How could it have been able to it arrive? Well it truly did not have a decision. It was pushed with an inconceivable power from Canada and after that dumped in our terrace. Around there we were affected by no less than 3 primary chilly periods. The Wisconsian, Illinoian and the Kansan periods lived up to expectations and left us some fine gold to play with. A large portion of these 3 periods had various advances and retreats, so the maps will give a superior thought of where to look. The best place I have found to get great data and maps is from the US government. They have an incredible guide and data booklets accessible on there dad site. Make a point to check out while your there and download and print the books and maps that intrigue you. The Pennsylvania Glacial Deposit guide can be found at The main distinction in discovering the gold contrasted with regions that have characteristic gold stores is you will likely be managing littler rivers and streams so digging turns into a "do as well as can be expected the situation being what it is." In searching for the gold in the Glacial territories I have not discovered much in the dark mud, most is found in the region around an inch from the highest point of the mud. In searching for a decent spot while test panning, the dark sand is still the best pointer. The advantage to those Glaciers dumping their till on us is for those of us that call this home, we get the opportunity to search for gold without needing to keep running off to California or Alaska. In the event that you begin your gold prospecting enterprises with fine gold, you will turn into one of the best at recouping any sort of gold. When you can skillet the concentrate down and recoup the fine gold and Black attractive sand, simply envision how simple it will be for you when you get to a detect that has pieces that you can get with your fingers! -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Free Spooky Training! 🔥 Australia's worst mining disaster Dalyston No 20 Shaft Historical site Wonthaggi
Two significant coal mine disasters took place here at the no 20 Shaft in Dalyston, Victoria, Australia 📌 The first occurred during the first year of operation on the 20th February 1931, when 4 men died underground. Then disaster strikes once again, on the 15th February 1937, in which another 13 men died underground this explosion was so powerful ,it blew the cage out of the shaft some 40 ft above the surface, and hit the poppet head, making this the worst mining disaster in Australia's history. The newspaper of the day "the Canberra Times" can be read from the national archives. (Link Below) 📌 http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/2424471 📌 This second disaster, in which Thirteen miners were killed from the explosion, resulted in a successful national campaign to improve conditions for all Australian miners. So at least some good came from the sad deaths of these miners. May they rest in piece. The Dalyston township today, is nothing more than a few assorted stones and cement slabs laying around, and allotment numbers found on maps of the area. LOT 36 Bass Highway Dalyston VIC 3992

Ancient Mining Techniques[History Documentary]HD
Ancient mining techniques go well back into our history – well back into ourprehistory, in fact. As we progressed through the Stone Age, with more and more sophisticated tools and weapons being designed and developed, so too,our need for more and better raw materials for these implements. Stone and flint led to copper, then bronze, gold, silver, iron… all in the name of progress, war, technology, vanity or greed. In fact, it’s ironic (pun intended) that the substance prized and even mined by our ancient ancestors for some of the earliest stone tools and weapons – flint – was later a hindrance encountered by Classical miners – who were in many cases also Classical minors – in gold mining galleries described by Pliny the Elder in the 1st century AD as “thought to be the hardest thing that exists, except greed for gold, which is the most stubborn of all things. Ancient Mining Machines - Ancient Discoveries History Documentary
Ancient Mining Machines - Ancient Discoveries (History Documentary) Shot on location in the Mediterranean and the Middle East, Ancient Discoveries unearths amazing technologies we think of as modern, but which actually have their origins in antiquity. The series travels back in time to uncover remarkably sosphisticated inventions and to celebrate the ancient engineers whose ingenuity laid the foundations for todays technology. The Romans created a hydraulic mining system that literally blew millions of tonnes of mountain away. How was this possible? Ancient sappers dug under the walls of the mega castle Jacobs Ford in 1178 and brought a whole castle down. How? Ancient Discoveries has built a wall and will dig a tunnel and bring it down the ancient way. Castle defenders invented listening devices to warn them of miners digging under their walls - how did these work, and what was the lethal concoction they used to smoke attacking sappers out of the tunnels? The invention of gunpowder changed the way we mine. But who brought explosives into mines? And how did they do it? In 1689 in Cornwall England miner Thomas Eplsey invented gunpowder mining. A technique that would eventually kill him - but that revolutionized the way we mine today. The Vikings mined a stone called sunstone that could be used to navigate when the sun was in and near the poles - where compasses don't work.
