Women in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF)

07:21
Our documentary examines how the role of women in the Israeli Defense Force reflects the egalitarian-based society in Israel. In writing, directing, filming, and coordinating this documentary, we connected with a vast range of Israeli soldiers -- women, men, Ethiopians, Israelis, young, old -- who all shared a passion and pride to defend Israel. Since our documentary specifically focuses on gender discrepancies in the IDF (Israeli Defense Force,) we had the privilege of interacting with a variety of women who have served or are currently enlisted. Although Israeli woman has her own story, they will all serve, will be treated equal to men, and return as true Israelis. Israel: A Nation of Innovation

08:28
This film focuses on Israel's extremely advanced technology. Despite continual conflicts over land and water, and fighting for the right to exist, Israel has overcome these challenges and stood her ground. In only sixty-three years of existence, Israel has achieved the highest number of start-up companies per capita, and is second in the number of companies on the NASDAQ, only trailing the United States. With our documentary, we aspire to raise awareness for Israel's need to exist as a nation for Jews and non-Jews alike because we all rely on their technology. You can thank Israelis for your cell phone or your computer processing chip. Beyond Falafel - Food Culture in Israel

05:29
We chose food as the topic for our group for two main reasons. One, it is not a highly controversial topic and two it would be a fun, clever, and accurate way to represent the pluralistic side of Israel that is so commonly omitted from the conversation. Some highlights of our filming process consisted of tasting different types of food, seeing traditional kosher dishes to seeing Chinese Kosher dishes, and hearing what Israelis had to say about the wide array of food within their country. We hope you enjoy our documentary, and next time you are in Israel, while falafel is still very tasty, see what other scrumptious dishes you can find. Flight to Freedom - The Ethiopian Jews journey to Israel

08:02
Our trip to Israel last summer was incredible, filming a documentary on the life of Ethiopian Jews. We were lucky to have the chance to interview people like Asher Naim, who was the former Israeli ambassador to Ethiopia, Nir Merry who played a role in helping Ethiopian Jews escape to Israel, 3 bright Ethiopian students, Tsega who is a journalist for an Israel radio program channel who became the first not only Ethiopian but woman in this position, and many others to get a strong grasp of this topic. The operation to Israel from Ethiopia was the biggest humanitarian aid in the shortest amount of time ever. For nearly 3,000 years, a tribe of black Jews of Ethiopia maintained their faith and identity in the face of extreme persecution. Although Ethiopian Jews went through many obstacles, they strive in the land of Israel today. Overrepresented Few - Voices for Peace in the Middle East

06:42
The media tends to paint things as black and white. We learned by traveling to Israel, that is hardly the case. We found a majority on both sides that wants peace, but who are not represented in the media. The overrepresented few who want to continue the conflict make up the majority of the news coverage. http://www.bluestarpr.com/write-on-for-israel-san-francisco.html Produced by Write On For Israel Teen Participants

Time is Not on Our Side - Israelis care about Peace

06:15
When we went to Israel this past summer our group decided to do a documentary on Israel teenagers. We were curious about how Israel teens prioritized their life and what they choose to value and consider important. We were interested in learning how they viewed the Palestinian conflict and how optimistic they were in respect to creating peace. Although not all of our questions were answered, many were. In this documentary you will learn about the excitement and the struggles Jewish Israeli teens who grow up in the holy country are faced with. Comparing our interviews with the popular depictions of Israelis in the media show you bias.
