Kris Kristofferson - Watch closely now (soundtrack - A star is born, 1976)
Fair use - no copyright infringement intended. Wow! Our Kris could have been a hot rock musician, too, couldn't he?? :-) I'm really happy about my software that enabled me to make the album song lips synchronously with the performance in the movie, even though the album song was sung not as fast as it was in the movie ... It's not Kris' song as all the other songs in the movie aren't (unfortunately - I think he has some great songs on his "Surreal thing" album that really could have been with the movie soundtrack...) The song was written by Paul Williams and Kenny Ascher Watch closely now You'll observe a curious exchange of energy Are you a figment of my imagination Or I one of yours? Watch closely now - are you watching me now? Your eyes are like fingers They're touching my body and arousing my soul Ridin' the passion arisin' inside me How high can I go? You're comin' with me girl I'm gonna show you how When it's scary, don't look down Watch closely now - are you watching me now? I see the hunger arise in your eyes and it's a-urging me on Higher and harder and faster and farther Than I've ever gone You're comin' closer lady Don't ya leave me now We're gonna make it Don't look down Maybe I'm takin' me too many chances With no net at all Maybe I'll teach you at least that You've got to be free when you fall Watch closely now - are you watching me now? I'm the master magician, who's setting you free From the lies you've been told When they're breaking your back Bring your last straw to me I turn straw into gold I'm gonna need you later When you're not around But I can take it Don't look down Watch closely now Are you watching me now?... It's on the soundtrack album to the movie.

I Can't See You Anymore - Renee Armand (HD) (Full Dynamic Range)
Direct from A&M single #1485-S from 1973, here is Renee Armand's "I Can't See You Anymore." The song was featured in a TV movie starring Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood called THE AFFAIR. In the feature, Ms. Wood sings the song in her own voice. Renee Armand, still under contract with A&M (THE RAIN BOOK) wrote the song with Jim Gordon. The track was arranged by Gene Page and produced by John Florez. This is straight from my 45 with no processing other than cleanup of a couple of ticks.

Leo Kottke - Sunrise (1969)
This is from Leo's first, hard to find album "12 String Blues". Although not really thought of as a singer songwriter, he is actually an incredible lyricist, as evidenced on this early effort. Although his singing still had some maturing to do (he strains a bit on the high notes), his guitar playing was already top-notch.

Leo Kottke - Tell Mary
from his "Balance" 1979. Chrysalis Records Balance is an album by American guitarist Leo Kottke, released in 1978. It was re-issued on CD by BGO Records (263) in 1996. On this album, only Whine and Dolores are Kottke's familiar acoustic guitar solos. 1/2-Acre of Garlic is a unique blend of acoustic guitar wizardry and Kottke's vocal, with electric guitar and bass supporting. Learning the Game is a straight ballad rendition of the Buddy Holly classic. The remaining tracks are essentially rock songs[1]. Even Embryonic Journey is given more of a rock band style of treatment than in Jefferson Airplane's original version[2].

Their commercial success started an almost immediate wave of changes—including a shift from US global dominance of rock and roll to UK acts, from soloists to groups, from professional songwriters to self-penned songs, and to changes in fashion. Prior to The Beatles' influence, record albums were of secondary consideration to singles ("45s") in mass marketing. Albums contained largely "filler" material (unexceptional songs) along with one or two hits. The Beatles rarely incorporated singles as part of their albums, thus defining the album as more important. Several Beatles album covers have been copied or parodied, for example: * With The Beatles was defaced by Meet The Residents (The Residents) and more or less loosely imitated by Get The Knack (The Knack), Meet The Smithereens! (The Smithereens),Young Black Teenagers self-titled debut album, Kiss's self-titled debut album, and Deface the Music (Utopia) -- itself an album of pastiches spanning The Beatles' career. As well, the Japanese anime soundtrack Meet the Tenchi Muyo! parodies the cover, though no Beatles songs are used. The artwork of the 1986 Genesis single Land of Confusion, is a parody of the original Beatles cover, with puppet versions of the members of Genesis. * A Hard Day's Night was imitated by House of Heroes Meets The Beatles (House of Heroes). * Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was imitated by The Yellow Album (The Simpsons), We're Only in It for the Money (Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention), Cripple Crow (Devendra Banhart) and Sinister Slaughter (Macabre). * The Beatles ("the White Album") was imitated by Boyd Rice, Prince, Metallica, and Jay-Z, who all released albums with black covers called "The Black Album". There is also a SpongeBob SquarePants soundtrack called The Yellow Album. Weezer also has three self-titled albums that are known better as the Red, Blue and Green Albums. * Abbey Road was imitated by The Abbey Road E.P. (Red Hot Chili Peppers). * Let It Be was imitated by Demon Days (Gorillaz), Shout at the Devil (Mötley Crüe) and Yah! Yah! Yah! Hello SCANDAL (SCANDAL). o The title of Let It Be is similar to that of Let It Bleed by the Rolling Stones, which was released six months before, but had begun recording just nine months after. Richard Lester received a formal letter from MTV declaring him the father of the modern pop video, for the work he did directing both of the early Beatles films, A Hard Day's Night (1964) and Help! (1965). His revolutionary camera techniques together with short lines of dialogue and rapid editing cuts to the beat were all seen as the precursor to the modern rock video. In the mid-1960s, The Beatles began filming promotional music videos for their songs, which they sent to television networks in lieu of appearing in person. Starting with the promotional clip for "Rain" in 1966, these films began using many techniques previously only seen in experimental film, such as intensive use of slow-motion, and reversed film.

The Broken Family band - John Belushi
The Broken Family Band are a British rock band from Cambridge and London. The band was formed in Cambridge, England by Steven Adams, Jay Williams, Micky Roman and Gavin Johnson in 2001, following the break-up of Adams and Williams indie rock band Hofman. Their musical style has variously been referred to as alt. country, country rock, new wave, and indie-rock (the latter term being favoured by the band). The name of the band references (and makes light of) the fact that both Adams and Williams had experienced an extended period during which close family members had died. Originally formed for fun and to play irregular shows at their local pub and record one album, the band were encouraged by friends to perform support slots in London. After appearing on a bill with The Walkmen, they were signed to indie label Snowstorm, for which they recorded one mini album The King Will Build A Disco and their first full length album Cold Water Songs, both of which featured guest appearances from Samantha Parton from The Be Good Tanyas, Martin Green from Lau, Inge Thomson from Harem Scarem and Owen Turner from Magoo. Both records received an excellent critical response, as well bringing the group to the attention of John Peel, who had them record two sessions. Following a trip to South By Southwest in Austin, Texas, the band moved to The Track & Field Organisation record label, for which they recorded the mini album Jesus Songs (which includes a cover of The King Of Carrot Flowers Part 2 by Neutral Milk Hotel, having received permission from the songs reclusive author Jeff Mangum), and the albums Welcome Home, Loser, Balls and Hello Love. Throughout this period the groups reputation and fanbase increased, resulting in them performing at Glastonbury Festival, the Green Man Festival, Tanned Tin, on the main stage at Cambridge Folk Festival, in Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Ireland The group originally featured a selection of guests, both on recordings and in live performance, although as their sound become less rooted in acoustic traditions, they began to solely appear as a four-piece, occasionally augmented by Timothy Victor. In 2009 the band moved to Cooking Vinyl and released the album Please And Thank You.

Skip Spence - AndOarAgain - 3CD Set - Nearly Two Hours of Unheard Music!
NEARLY TWO HOURS OF UNHEARD OAR! AndOarAgain provides unparalleled access to what David Fricke calls “the most harrowing and compelling artifacts of rock & roll’s most euphoric era” across three dozen unheard tracks! In addition to the quintessential original album, AndOarAgain features nearly two hours of unheard music on the way to Oar–along with roads not taken–that both clarifies and muddies the enigma of how psychedelic legend Alexander “Skip” Spence determined the final state of his iconic masterpiece. The time: December, 1968. The setting: the Columbia Recording Studios at 504 16th Avenue South in Nashville, Tennessee. Alexander Spence – a singer, songwriter, and guitarist commonly known as Skip, recently relieved of his duties in the San Francisco rock band Moby Grape after a descent into excessive hallucinatory-drug use and a psychotic episode with a fire axe – is recording Oar, his first album as a Columbia solo artist. It will also be his last. Made in six days spread over two weeks, then released six months later on May 19th, 1969, Oar will be Spence’s only complete expression of his experimental verve and musical facility, under his real name and creative control, before he recedes into rapidly deepening, ultimately conquering darkness. A half-century after its brisk, strange birth, Oar remains an apparent chaos of eccentric composition and overwhelming melancholy, wreathed in country-blues shadows and the smokey blur of Spence’s wounded-baritone singing. AndOarAgain, a 3CD set including the seminal original album, the 1999 bonus cuts, and nearly two hours of unheard Oar; all packaged in a hardbound book-style jacket with rare photos and extensive notes from David Fricke! Available 9/28/18

Maurice Bolyer Golden Banjo Classics Part 2/7
4. Londonderry Air 5. A Salute To Al Jolson (California Here I Come - You Made Me Love You - April Showers - Swanee - Carolina In The Morning - Toot, Toot, Tootsie) 6. Two Banjo (Swanee River) A 2-LP set by Maurice Bolyer (originally Beaulieu) (1920-1978) apparently issued in 1977 because of the font on the labels and the consistency of the vinyl. Maurice went to school with my grandpa on my mom's side (1908-1983), and this is the very copy he got following Maurice's death. This album has meant a lot to me, as I kept listening to it for years through my childhood and early teenage. My grandma also kept playing it all the time after her husband's death, all the way until 1996 when she got transferred to health care and I inherited of it (she died in 2000). To get the best sound out of these records that got well worn on my grandma's 1966 Garrard 3000 changer (which I also still have), I'm here playing them on my 1987 Technics SL-L24 linear-tracker with Shure cartridge. Sides are placed A opposite B and C opposite D as with sets from the 80's and today. Each side has its theme: Side A "In Concert"; Side B "For Party Dancing"; Side C "Jigs, Reels and Waltzes"; and Side D "By Request". The gatefold cover is heavily worn and torn along the top and bottom, but still bears the following liner notes: ************************* THE KING OF THE BANJO The reputation "King Of The Banjo" in today's music industry is an honour that carries with it, not just the respect and admiration of the public but fellow musicians as well. It's a title that has not come easy to Maurice Bolyer. Born in Edmundston, N.B., Canada, December 1, 1920, Maurice learned to play the piano at the age of 3 - at 10 he was a member of a small band playing at weddings and dances. Not only he was playing piano, he would also solo on the violin, guitar, bass, accordion and mandolin. Seven years later the band was still going and the group decided Maurice should add the banjo. Of all the instruments Maurice had played the banjo wasn't going to be mastered as quickly. It was going to take many years of hard work because he really didn't like the banjo. However, Maurice continued to play the banjo and in 1942 he played with the great Hank Snow. It was around this time Maurice made his first multiple single instrument recording, about 8 years before Les Paul made his. Married in the early 40's, the Bolyers started travelling across the country in search of the elusive stairway to stardom. Musical contests, band jobs and radio station programs started the ball rolling. Recognition came slowly for Maurice. It started with the TV show 'Main Street Jamboree' with Gordie Tapp. Next came 'Country Hoedown', and during the last 8 years Maurice has been part of the 'Tommy Hunter Show'. As his talent was recognized, Maurice became a popular guest on major U.S. TV shows such as Arthur Godfrey, Pee Wee Hunt, Victor Borge, and the ever popular Lawrence Welk. It was Arthur Godfrey who called Maurice the world's greatest living banjo virtuoso. Many of the songs you will hear have been recorded with a mute on the banjo, changing the banjo's tone to a soft, mellow sound. While other artists use a mute, Maurice designed his own and the results you will hear are a tribute to his musical talent. This special two-record set includes many songs recorded for the first time, as well as some of Maurice's "Golden Classics" that have been applauded by audiences around the world. To Maurice we say... Long Live The King.

This Train - Original Song with Guitar and Mandolin
Copyright 2014 Joe and Rosa Hopkins. All Rights Reserved. Why do we need salvation? Because of sin. What is sin? The Bible defines sin as the breaking of God's commandments. Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever cheated on a test? Did you ever disobey your parents? Have you ever broken one of the ten commandments? The answer to this is yes. The Bible says 'for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God'. Romans 3:23. This sin is what separates us from God. 'For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord'. So this gospel, or good news is that Jesus came to die on the cross to pay for your sins. He took your punishment; He took your place. 'But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us'. Romans 5:8. Understand that you cannot save yourself. Your good deeds are not enough. Romans 3:10 says 'As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:' You must believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and that He rose again the third day. 'That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved'. Romans 10:9 Jesus paid the price for your sin. A price that you or I cannot pay ourselves. Accept Him as your Savior and you will be forgiven for your sins and will have an eternal home in heaven when you die. Pray to God this prayer in faith. Dear Father, forgive me for my sins. I accept Jesus as my personal Savior and do repent of my sins. I accept His sacrifice as payment for my sins. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
