America's Deadliest Parasite Outbreak

03:32
In 1993, cryptosporidium, a highly infectious and potentially deadly parasite, made its way into the water supply of Milwaukee. The contaminated water led to the largest and deadliest parasitic epidemic in US history, infecting over 400,000 people in the greater Milwaukee area and contributing to the death of at least 93 people. | For more Monsters Inside Me, visit http://animal.discovery.com/tv/monsters-inside-me/#mkcpgn=ytapl1 Subscribe to Animal Planet! | http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=animalplanettv Watch full episodes! http://bit.ly/MonstersInsideMeFullEps Join us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AnimalPlanet Follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/AnimalPlanet Download the Animalist App! | http://anmlst.co/1dILpRb

Is It Ever Possible To Get Rid Of Blastocystis Hominis?

04:57
Many people believe that it is impossible to get rid of a Blastocystis parasite infection. This video gives you another way of looking at this problem. Hi, there. Eric Bakker, naturopath. Thanks for coming back. I've got a question from a subscriber called David Tollisson, and Mr. Tollisson wants to know if it's possible to get rid of blastocystis hominis without the use of antibiotics. If you can get rid of this parasite basically just with diet alone. Anything is possible, David. Anything is possible. Many people don't even believe blasto to be a problem these days. Many people are actually starting to think it could be part of the normal gut flora. So, but it is a parasite. It's a single cell organism. It's a parasite. It shouldn't really belong in the gut. But it's like anything. If you got to town with a few criminals in it, it's usually okay, but when the criminal numbers exceed and the criminals get smarter, it becomes a problem. Right? Every city in every country has got criminals in it. You can't get rid of these kind of people, but you can reduce their numbers and keep them in check. And how do we do that? We do that by having a lot of good people around the bad people, if you get my picture. When there's a lot of good, okay, evil finds it hard to prevail when there's lots of good around. It's very difficult, but when there's not a lot around, evil prevails, and we see that in many countries, unfortunately, today, that are getting really taken out by terrorists. It's quite sad. So, but the question is this. How is your health? If you've got quite good health and you've got blasto, it's not something you really want to concern yourself. All your really want to concern yourself in that case is improving your health to higher levels to put the squeeze on these guys. And how you do that is correct through proper diet. Antibiotics are not desirable at all for parasites in any shape or form. I used to recommend some types of antibiotics up until a few years ago, but never recommend them any more. I've seen far too many adverse reactions and too many who take these drugs and don't get the end result they're looking for. They end up in deeper water than they were before. So, I'm at a point now where I recommend no pharmaceutical antibiotics at all any more for parasites. There are different ways to get rid these guys, but you need to really understand it's not something that's going to happen over a couple of weeks. It could take three months, six months or twelve months, but your health should be starting to improve all along with the right kind of changes that you can make. So, have a look at things like your lifestyle. I've talked a lot about that in this channel. I think it's one of the most important points for recovery is having a good life, a relaxed, as stress free as possible. Okay? Many things may need to change here. Sometimes people can't obtain great health until they've had great change in their life. So, that's something I don't often hear spoken of. Everyone has got their own issues or problems they face, and these are the sort of things I like to see people tackle before they start taking drugs for conditions. There could be ameliorated by lifestyle and diet changes. So, hope that gives you some information there. Thanks for the question.

Strongyloides stercoralis - Video Learning - WizScience.com

02:44
""Strongyloides stercoralis"" is a human pathogenic parasitic roundworm causing the disease strongyloidiasis. Its common name is "threadworm". In the UK and Australia, however, the term "threadworm" can also refer to nematodes of the genus "Enterobius", otherwise known as pinworms. The "Strongyloides stercoralis" nematode can parasitize humans. The adult parasitic stage lives in tunnels in the mucosa of the small intestine. The genus "Strongyloides" contains 53 species, and "S. stercoralis" is the type species. "S. stercoralis" has been reported in other mammals, including cats and dogs. However, it seems that the species in dogs is typically not "S. stercoralis", but the related species "S. canis". Non-human primates are more commonly infected with "S. fuelleborni" and "S. cebus", although "S. stercoralis" has been reported in captive primates. Other species of "Strongyloides", naturally parasitic in humans, but with restricted distributions, are "S. fuelleborni" in central Africa and "S. kellyi" in Papua New Guinea. "S. stercoralis" has a very low prevalence in societies where fecal contamination of soil or water is rare. Hence, it is a very rare infection in developed economies. In developing countries, it is less prevalent in urban areas than in rural areas . "S. stercoralis" can be found in areas with tropical and subtropical climates. Strongyloidiasis was first described in the 19th century in French soldiers returning home from expeditions in Indochina. Today, the countries of the old Indochina still have endemic strongyloidiasis, with the typical prevalences being 10% or less. Regions of Japan used to have endemic strongyloidiasis, but control programs have eliminated the disease. Strongyloidiasis appears to have a high prevalence in some areas of Brazil and Central America. It is endemic in Africa, but the prevalence is typically low . Pockets have been reported from rural Italy, but current status is unknown. In the Pacific islands, strongyloidiasis is rare, although some cases have been reported from Fiji. In tropical Australia, some rural and remote Australian Aboriginal communities have very high prevalences of strongyloidiasis. Wiz Science™ is "the" learning channel for children and all ages. Histological Changes in Bronchi song IDFWU MEDmix (lyrics in description)

02:04
** usmle stuff  changes in conduction system bronchus tubes! Primary, secondary , tertiary then terminal! Primary: many goblet cells and pseudostratfied ciliated columnar epithelial! Some cc16 secreting clara cells , brush and granulus cells with granules! They’re all specialized epithelials Changes are gradual! Epithelia with cilia, goblet cells , and brush, cc16 clara, and granulus cells (Epithelia with cilia, goblet cells , and brush, cc16 clara, and granulus cells) primary bronchi branch outside the lungs the second branches are secondary . tertiary: third branching (UN) • the Secondary bronchus has 2 changes pseudostratified columnar epithelials transition to simple columnar this bronchus is still with all other cells like the pimary bronchus There are more simple columnar and goblet cells than cell kinds of any other The other change happens to hyaline (lane) Lung Cartilage breaks for retracting and expanding if cartilage plates are too tight , no lung expansion • The following changes are in terminal bronchus branches epithelium become ciliated cuboidal . while Clara cell number increase is outstanding clara cell numbers are highest in terminal bronchus and it shows copious cc16 if damaged CC16 is a phospholipid. Cartilage disappears in the terminal bronchus Basement membrane and lamina propria are still there. The muscularis mucosa smooth muscle size increases Replicating the cartilage layer (lair) If there’s a problem with this muscle asthma or bronchitis will be there. The terminal bronchus is where Gas exchange begins for the respiratory system In the respiratory bronchiole Ya know? Q: what happens to the submucosa as muscle cells increase in size/number? 1) respiratory system: exchange of gases: o2 and carbon dioxide NOT any other gases : nitrogen and trace elements in and out, no exchange of these at all. • Respitary bronchioles • Alveolar duct • Alveolar sac • Alveolus Respiratory bronchus Has: • Cuboidal cells : clara cells secretes phospholipid cc16 • Basement membrane • Very little smooth muscle • Simple Squamous epithelium for exchange of gas and molecules • This repeats The alveolar duct has All simle squamous epithelium The alveolar sac has: All simple squamous and each cell in the alveolar sac is called an alveolus. 3:15: why is cartilage there: so trachea and bronchi do not collapse. few goblet some ciliated cells The terminal bronchus branch into respiratory bronchuswwhere gas exchange starts to take plae ** all tubular structures have a mucosa. An alveolus contains pnuemocyte type 1 cell: where air goes through. It’s a squamous epithelium with basement membrane and capillaries underneath which also has simple squamous cells that are continuous because you don’t want leak ! since their continuous theres a blood air barrier. Air in to alveolus cells , capillaries, then blood. There is another cell in the alveolus on the basement membrane called pneumocyte type 2 which can undergo mitosis to replace both ype 2 and type 1 (type 1 doesn’t undergo mitosis) they also secrete surfactant: if they are not replicatin, they cause crib death.thet’s why when a baby is born in the US, they pour surfactant into the lungs so they don’t collapse. 3:40 air , o2, nitrogen, and trace elements make up air. Only co2 and oxygen are important UNLESS a person is a diver . here, he’s not. Lamellar bodies and surfactant are synonymous in the pneumocyte type 2 3:34-3:35 integrin? Tuberculosis Emphysema Cystic fibrosis: pancreas??? Skin and mouth both have STRATIFIED squamous.

Turpentine Protocol: Candida and Parasites

08:30
Most people on the planet live with chronic fungal and parasitic infections and are either unaware of it or are not interested in addressing it. Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by yeasts that belong to the genus Candida. Anyone that has sugar cravings regularly has an overgrowth of candida. Some signs of candida include: skin issues, skin and nail fungal infections, chronic fatigue/fibromyalgia, poor memory, brain fog, irritability, mood swings, anxiety, depression, vaginal infections, urinary tract infections, rectal itching or vaginal itching, digestive issues, autoimmune issues, and the list goes on. One of the biggest problems with candida is that it covers the surface of the small intestines and prevents nutrient absorption by taking the nutrients for itself. Not only that but the nutrients it doesn't eat are barely absorbed because of the coating that they create. Turpentine is the volatile oil distilled from pine resin. It is kryptonite to candida albicans. 100% pure gum spirits of turpentine is a powerful anti-fungal and anti-parasitic ally. Use it with respect. I use no more than 1 tsp per day and stay hydrated with plenty of good quality water. This WILL cause a die-off so the elimination channels must be open. Enemas like the one I mention in the video are very helpful in flushing the little guys out. Blastocystis Hominis Treatment: Natural Treatment For Blastocystis Hominis

14:02
Learn how to treat Blastocystis Hominis infection once and for all. Comprehensive video on blastocystis hominis treatment. Download Blastocystis Hominis Report and Shopping list here: http://www.yeastinfection.org/blastocystis-hominis/ Many people who read my Candida Crusher book or who've read online about yeast infections, they may, in fact, have a blasto infection. They may have a Dientamoeba fragilis infection, Entamoeba histolytica; there are many different kinds of parasites out there. And a lot of these parasites have one thing in common, well, a couple of things in common. They need feeding. They produce waste. They get attacked by the immune system, creating chemicals that affect the body peripherally. They compete with each other. They have these wars going on internally. A little bit like the Catholics, Muslims and all these religious people that have fights all the time. It's a little bit like what happens internally with us. We have these inner wars going on. I want you to try to understand that you shouldn't really try to compartmentalize diseases too much and give everything separate treatments. If you have a look at the work I've written on yeast infections, if you follow that quite carefully, you're going to have a fantastic outcome for blasto as well. The blasto treatment, as I mentioned, is not unlike Candida treatment. You need to really take the sugars, the refined starches, and the junky foods out of the diet. I can't help you if you maintain alcohol consumption, even if you drink one glass of beer a week or even a month. So if you're drinking alcohol, you've got a gut problem, and you don't want to stop, hit the kill switch right now on this video because I don't want to help you. I'm not interested in helping you. If you're sincere and you want to overcome this problem, you will stop drinking alcohol for at least three to six months while we work on your gut. That's number one for natural treatment. You cannot drink alcohol in any shape or form until your gut comes right. You must stop for a considerable period of time all sorts of sweet foods, confectionary, ice cream, most breads need to go because they're too refined for the gut. Those starches are great fodder for lots of different kinds of bad bugs as well as parasites in the body. So you need to get rid of these kinds of foods from your diet. A whole foods diet is the best. You will have heard of the SCD, the specific carbohydrate diet. Donna Gates' work on Body Ecology. There are so many different books out there now that you can draw parallels from. They're all very healthy, clean dietary approaches. You can pick any one of these. They're all going to work to a reasonable extent with eradicating blasto as well as Candida. It's all about discipline, folks, it's all about eating the right kind of foods, avoiding the crap that you know to avoid, exercising regularly, getting plenty of rest and sleep. Again, I don't know how many times I've told you, there's no rocket science behind this. It's common sense. I tend to grow a lot of my own vegetables and fruits. A lot of the green foods I eat come straight out of the garden, and I think it's a really nice thing if you can grow some of your own foods. You'd be more motivated to eat healthy if you do that. Blasto doesn't like lots of vegetables, for example. Especially, things like broccoli and spinach. Those are good foods. Beans, celery, kale, steamed kale is a really good food. There are many foods you can eat that discourage blasto infection, and there are many foods you can eat that encourage it. So the stronger your gut symptoms, the more careful you've got to be with your diet. But I don't want you making changes too quick. I want you making changes more slowly. I've had too many patients contact me getting into really big problems when they did a very strong about turn with their diet within a week. They stopped eating all the junk food and they started trying to eat everything perfect, and they did that all within a week, and then ended up feeling like crap. So you can't do that. You need to have a slow transition from junk into a healthy way of living. Because remember, you've got to change the environment of the gut, and that can take a few weeks or a few months for you to achieve that. It's not going to happen overnight. How to make a water distiller

24:07
This video shows you how to make a water distillation unit using simple and common materials that would be very easy to find if you didnt already have them in your home. Distillation makes salt water drinkable and can remove radioactive fallout from contaminated water. I have experimented with several differant ways of trying to make non potable water, potable, and distillation removes the most contaminants, removes the most bacteria, and is the most reliable since in order for it to work,it has to come to a boil which kills all harmful bacteria. Waterborne Disease

01:41
Waterborne diseases are caused by pathogenic microorganisms which are directly transmitted when contaminated drinking water is consumed. Contaminated drinking water, used in the preparation of food, can be the source of foodborne disease through consumption of the same microorganisms. According to the World Health Organization, diarrheal disease accounts for an estimated 4.1% of the total global burden of disease and is responsible for the deaths of 1.8 million people every year. It was estimated that 88% of that burden is attributable to unsafe water supply, sanitation and hygiene, and is mostly concentrated in children in developing countries. Waterborne disease can be caused by protozoa, viruses, bacteria, and intestinal parasites. For more, go to the World Health Organization (WHO) website Water Sanitation and Health at http://www.who.int/water_sanitation_health/en/ . And take a look at a wonderful website, Tracking Down the Roots of Our Sanitary Sewers at http://www.sewerhistory.org/ . The purpose of this website is to house this dynamic collection of materials about the evolutionary development of sewers over the past 5500 years, and to provide a location for the sharing and distribution of information to others. The donation of additional photos, sketches, articles, books, or other sources of historical information on the history of sewers is welcome. Hashimotos and Blastocystis Hominis Parasite Infection - The Infection Connection

Hashimotos and Blastocystis Hominis Parasite Infection - The Infection Connection Schedule a FREE Consult: http://www.justinhealth.com/free-consultation In this video, Dr. Justin Marchegiani talks about Hashimoto's disease and its connection to the Blastocystis Hominis Parasite Infection. Blastocystis hominis or blasto for short is a common parasite infection in 3rd world countries been can also causing lingering symptoms for people in 1st world countries as well. Many conventional trained doctors haven't caught up to the role of chronic gut infection in conditions like autoimmune disease and even symptoms like involving the brain, joint pain, low thyroid symptoms mood and memory issues. It's easy for most people to connect parasites to causing digestive symptoms like bloating, gas, nausea, diarrhea and acid reflux. Many of the chronic health issues especially in the area of the thyroid/Hashimoto's can be partially attributed to a gut infection like blasto. How To Diagnose And Treat Chlamydiosis In Cats

06:50
You might have had an upper respiratory infection before, but you might not have known that your cat can get them, too. Chlamydiosis is a bacteria-based chronic infection that most often manifests in cats as a serious upper respiratory infection. Recognizing upper respiratory infection symptoms in your cat can help you determine if you need to take it to the vet for a formal diagnosis. If your cat is diagnosed with chlamydiosis, one of the most important aspects of treatment is keeping your cat away from other animals and people. Welcome to Pets and Animals YouTube Channel. AIDS SYMPTOMS

04:30
AIDS SYMPTOMS » Help me 10.000 Subscribe, thanks, please: https://goo.gl/KZQvss AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) is commonly thought of as the final stage of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). It is a syndrome marked by the inability of the immune system to fight off other infections. When AIDS weakens the body, it is vulnerable to other things that healthy bodies can resist like viruses, bacteria, fungi, and some cancers. Common AIDS symptoms are: Night sweats Prolonged fever (temperature greater than 100 F) and shaking chills Shortness of breath and cough Chronic diarrhea White spots on the tongue/inside the mouth Headaches Severe fatigue Blurred vision Weight loss Skin rashes or bumps that may come and go In addition, there are a number of AIDS-related diseases, known as opportunistic infections, that are not common among people with healthy immune systems. They are opportunistic because they see an AIDS patient's weakened immune system as an opportunity to invade and cause infection. The CDC has developed a list of opportunistic infections that are considered "AIDS-defining" conditions, meaning that if you have HIV and one or more of these diseases, you will be diagnosed with AIDS: These AIDS-related diseases are: Candidiasis of trachea, esophagus, or lungs (a yeast infection that causes painful white spots/patches in the mouth and throat) Aggressive cervical cancer Coccidiomycosis (a fungal disease that causes a flu-like illness) Cryptococcosis (a fungal disease that can involve the brain and lungs) Cryptosporidiosis (a parasite that infects the GI tract, causing diarrhea) Cytomegalovirus (a viral infection that can cause systemic illness and retinitis) HIV Encephalopathy (which can cause dementia) Chronic herpes simplex ulcers (for greater than 1 month) or pneumonitis, bronchitis, or esophagitis Histoplasmosis (a fungal infection that affects the lungs and can spread to other organs) Isosporiasis (a parasitic infection of the GI tract that causes diarrhea) Kaposi's sarcoma (reddish purple spots that can occur anywhere on the body) Lymphomas (immune system cancers) Mycobacterium avium complex (bacterial infection that can cause lung disease and blood infection) Tuberculosis (a bacterial lung infection that can spread to involve multiple organs) Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (a type of pneumonia caused by a fungus) Recurrent pneumonia Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (viral disease that causes inflammation of the white matter of the brain) Recurrent Salmonella septicemia (a blood infection caused by the bacteria Salmonella) Toxoplasmosis of brain (parasite that causes flu like illness which can develop into whole body illness) Wasting syndrome (extreme weight loss) When a person develops one or more of these diseases, it is a sign of severe immune system damage. Opportunistic infections are the most common cause of death for people with HIV/AIDS. Because early HIV symptoms can look like other less harmful diseases, it is important that you consider testing for HIV if you're sexually active. This is true even if you don’t have symptoms. The CDC recommends that HIV testing be performed routinely for all patients aged 13–64 years, and at least yearly for those who are at high risk: IV drug users, men who have sex with men (MSM), sex partners of those infected with HIV, and heterosexuals who since their most recent test had more than one sex partner. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Thank you for watching! High-Density Dielectrophoretic Microwell Array for Detection, Capture, and Single-Cell Analysis...

High-Density Dielectrophoretic Microwell Array for Detection, Capture, and Single-Cell Analysis of Rare Tumor Cells in Peripheral Blood. Atsushi Morimoto et al (2015), PLoS ONE http://dx.doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0130418 Development of a reliable platform and workflow to detect and capture a small number of mutation-bearing circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from a blood sample is necessary for the development of noninvasive cancer diagnosis. In this preclinical study, we aimed to develop a capture system for molecular characterization of single CTCs based on high-density dielectrophoretic microwell array technology. Spike-in experiments using lung cancer cell lines were conducted. The microwell array was used to capture spiked cancer cells, and captured single cells were subjected to whole genome amplification followed by sequencing. A high detection rate (70.2%–90.0%) and excellent linear performance (R2 = 0.8189–0.9999) were noted between the observed and expected numbers of tumor cells. The detection rate was markedly higher than that obtained using the CellSearch system in a blinded manner, suggesting the superior sensitivity of our system in detecting EpCAM− tumor cells. Isolation of single captured tumor cells, followed by detection of EGFR mutations, was achieved using Sanger sequencing. Using a microwell array, we established an efficient and convenient platform for the capture and characterization of single CTCs. The results of a proof-of-principle preclinical study indicated that this platform has potential for the molecular characterization of captured CTCs from patients.

What Is Dientamoeba Fragilis?

04:18
Greetings! Eric Bakker, naturopath from New Zealand. Author of Candida Crusher. Thanks for checking out my video. We're going to do a series on a parasite called Dientamoeba Fragilis today. Let's just talk a bit about parasites in general. Many people who contact me or catch up with me as patients think they've got parasites. What are parasites? What exactly are these kind of bugs? Are they politicians? Are they bad friends? Is it your mother-in-law? What is a parasite? Well, a parasite is something that takes and takes and doesn't give back. Sounds a bit like a politician doesn't it? A really bad politician. People who just take and take everything they can and don't give it back. Some movie stars are spoiled brats. They're a little bit like that aren't they? They take everything they can, they treat people really bad, they trash the place and they walk out leaving a bloody mess. Parasites are exactly like that. Parasites confer no benefits to their host. All they do is they take and they give nothing back. They can actually create a lot of harm and damage to people. Parasites, when people think about it, they think about big worms crawling through your tummy. Huge big bugs inside. I've had people tell me, "Oh, well I saw something in my stool. This really long bug. Is it a parasite inside me? I can feel all these worms burrowing through my intestines." Well, I've got bad news for you if you think like that. Parasites can't usually be seen with the eye. You need a microscope to see them. Parasites are incredibly small. They can be transmitted generally through the fecal/oral route. That doesn't mean to say that you're doing really dirty things, that means to say if you get a parasite, often it comes down to hygiene. We'll talk later on a little bit about transmission and about causes and things like that. The three main common parasites that I see are Blastocystis hominis (which accounts for about 45 percent of irritable bowel syndrome cases), Dientamoeba Fragilis (which accounts for about 30 to 35 percent of irritable bowel syndrome cases), and Giardia Lamblia (which accounts for a much smaller percentage-we're talking one and a half to two or three percent if that). We also get Cryptosporidium and other kinds of bugs, but we don't really worry too much about those sort of things. Dientamoeba Fragilis-it's estimated if we look at U.S. alone, we've got between one to three percent of the population will have an infection with Dientamoeba. It's an exceedingly small parasite. It's very tiny. The interesting thing about this parasite is it doesn't really come in a cyst form. It doesn't come in an egg form like something with a hard outer shell. Dientamoeba doesn't do this, but Blasto does. Blasto can survive a lot longer outside of a host than Dientamoeba can. Dientamoeba dies very quickly when it's exposed to air and water and things like that, whereas Blasto doesn't. That probably accounts for the extra 10 to 15 percent of cases we see in irritable bowel syndrome. Many doctors, in fact, don't even believe that Dientamoeba is a really big problem because so many people do have it and have got no real symptoms. I can tell you now there are a lot of people with Dientamoeba who've got a lot of problems, which we'll tell you about later on. It's estimated that between 19, right up to 70 percent of specific populations have got Dientamoeba. These are people particularly who live in unsanitary conditions, or very crowded conditions, or certain types of third-world conditions. It can be a real problem. Let's just talk a little bit about the different signs and symptoms in another video. We're going to talk about treatment, we're going to talk about causes. I've got a whole list of questions here. We're going to look at natural treatment, best foods to eat, worst foods to eat, tests and diagnosis, etc. Let's get into this video series. If you're interested in Dientamoeba, please check out the next video.

Facts about Rats - Rentokil UK

04:10
The Brown Rat has only been present in the UK since early in the 18th Century. Since then it has replaced the Black Rat as the most common species of rat in the country. Brown rats are relatively large in comparison to other UK species of rodents with fully grown adults weighing about 300g. While they are called 'Brown Rats' they actually can vary in colour from light brown to almost black. They have a blunt rounded snout, large feet and small ears in comparison to their body size and a thick hairless tail which is shorter than the length of the head and body combined. Brown rats are nocturnal animals, which means they are active during the night. Consequently they do not have very well developed vision and rely on their sense of touch to find their way around their environment, using the sensitive hairs which cover their body. The rats also have a well developed memory enabling them to remember the obstacles within their environment and move around them. Unlike 'House Mice' they are naturally very wary animals and will treat any new object they find with suspicion, taking days or weeks to become comfortable with it. This behaviour is often termed 'new object reaction' or 'neophobia'. They demonstrate a predictable feeding behaviour, returning to the same site each night to feed from a food source that they are familiar with. Brown rats will also carry food away and hoard it. Their food preferences may vary depending on their habitat and rats infesting refuse tips and sewers will feed on a mixture of foods of both animal and vegetable origin. They consume about 10% of their own body weight in food every night. Brown rats always need to have access to free standing water and will need to drink around 60ml during their periods of activity. While they are active brown rats will urinate constantly and produce around 40 droppings every 24 hours. These are usually produced in a latrine area and can build up to significant numbers if the population goes unchecked. Like all rodents brown rats have incisor teeth that grow continuously throughout their lives. To compensate for this they spend a significant part of their waking time gnawing, not just on food but also on inedible materials such as wooden supports, electrical cables and pipes. Damage to property with the inevitable consequences for businesses and livelihoods are a very real risk when infestations are present. Brown rats are classed as 'commensal' rodents, meaning they live in close proximity to people and can be found both indoors and outdoors in urban areas, on farms, around refuse tips and in sewers. It is not surprising therefore that they are able to spread disease. Most of the harmful micro-organisms carried by rodents will be a reflection of the environment in which they live, and rats have been proven to carry bacteria such as Salmonella, Listeria and other micro-organisms responsible for diseases such as Cryptosporidium. They carry a bacteria in their urine responsible for causing Weil's disease in humans. About 30% of the rats in the UK are thought to carry this bacteria which can be fatal in some circumstances. Many of the brown rat infestations found in urban areas are associated with drains. From here they are able to gain access to buildings where they can then reproduce and cause damage, as well as contaminate food and other materials with droppings and urine. This video is part of a playlist of short videos which are intended to combine multiple choice questions' answering experience with an improved understanding of anatomy. Most of the questions are of the USMLE-type by being case-based or with clinical vignettes. However, students with little or no clinical training can answer the questions provided that they follow a clinically-oriented approach in their study of anatomy. Presented and edited by Dr. Akram Jaffar, Ph.D. This video and its channel are supported by "Human Anatomy Education" Page on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/AnatomyEducation It is widely accepted that multiple choice examinations are the most objective means available today for testing the theoretical knowledge of large populations of students. They test not only an individual's knowledge but also the more subtle qualities, such as discrimination, judgment, and reasoning. If multiple choice tests are to be most effectively used as educational tools, they should be given to students during the course of studies and not just during the examination at the end of the course. Considering the descriptive nature of anatomy, and the importance of illustrations in grasping and remembering anatomical relationships, diagrams are added. However, they should not be expected to accompany questions in an actual examination setting. In this case the student should visualize these relations in his/her mind's eye before attempting to answer the question.

Eimeria - Video Learning - WizScience.com

""Eimeria"" is a genus of apicomplexan parasites that includes various species capable of causing the disease coccidiosis in cattle and poultry, among other animals. The most prevalent species of "Eimeria" that cause coccidiosis in cattle would be "E. bovis", "E. zuernii", and "E. auburnensis". In a young, susceptible calf it is estimated that as few as 50,000 infective oocysts can cause severe disease. The oocysts of what was later called "Eimeria steidai" were first seen by the pioneering Dutch microscopist Antoni van Leeuwenhoek in the bile of a rabbit in 1674. The genus is named for the German zoologist Theodor Eimer . The coccidia genera can be identified from oocysts: "Eimeria" - four sporocysts, each containing two sporozoites "Wenyonella" - four sporocysts, each containing four sporozoites "Tyzzeria" - eight sporozoites, not contained in sporocysts "Isospora" - two sporocysts, each containing four sporozoites The "Eimeria" lie within the family Eimeriidae. This genus has ~75% of the species within this family, and it is the most specious of the genera of the Apicomplexia with 1,700 described species. Attempts to subdivide this large taxonomic unit into separate genera have been made. The "Eimeria" of fish have been divided into four genera based on available morphologic and life cycle data. "Eimeria": these species are tetrasporocystic with dizoic, nonbivalved sporocysts with or without Stieda bodies. This new genus retains the majority of the species. Please donate today, if you can’t afford to donate help us out by sharing the link on facebook, twitter, Instagram or anywhere else you can think of! Thank You! http://www.gofundme.com/2faw4df8 This video shows how to make and use the home made Berkey type water filtration system. This one is made for less than $35 in parts and you will see that it will turn the nastiest of Oklahoma water in to clean SAFE drinking water in a reasonable amount of time. This system is NOT super fast (yet...give me time) but it will clean 5 gallons of drinking water in about 24 hours (Website says 14 per day) . I believe that I may have figured out how to speed that up to 5 gallons in an hour or so, stop back and see it I make that work. This DOES NOT make water drinkable without boiling or adding chlorine or bleach, however in a pinch it would beat drinking it straight out of the river. This works GREAT and is SOOO much cheaper than the store bought systems that do the same thing. Thanks for watching! Please click the like and don't forget to subscribe if you like the videos I'm putting out. And please check out our website! www.doubletapok.com Purifying water with sunlight... http://modernsurvivalblog.com/health/how-to-purify-water-with-sunlight/ Specs on the filter...
