Ripple (the church Priest = Aura)

06:24
One of my all-time favourite church songs, Ripple. This is the original Priest = Aura version, which is distinctly longer and different than the version on Deep in the Shallows. The photographs are from the collection of Estelle Moughton, with much thanks. And the videography, motion stills, editing, kaleidoscopics and all that stuff by DD.

Guiding the band though the '80s and '90s with a combination of chemistry, talent and a desire for excellence, their unique and distinctive guitar sounds and thought-provoking lyrics have succeeded in inspiring both the audience and the critics' imagination the world over. In recent years the band have continued on their creative trajectory and with their induction into the 2010 ARIA Hall Of Fame, they have been able to reflect on their huge body of work as they continue to be prolific and pursue their artistic aspirations both live and in the studio. From the debut album Of Skins and Heart (including their first hit The Unguarded Moment) to the artistically and commercially successful Starfish, charting high in both Australia and the USA, (featuring the ubiquitous Under The Milky Way and guitar driven Reptile), through to 2009′s lush, organic masterpiece Untitled #23, lead vocalist and bassist Steve Kilbey, guitarists Peter Koppes and Marty Willson-Piper and drummer Tim Powles (now an active member of the band for 17 years), have continued as the church through three whole decades to pleasure their fans with a unerring sense of space, melody, beat driven prose and sonic charm. Rolling Stone Australia gave their last album Untitled #23 an unprecedented 5 star review -- "a stunningly ambitious album of shimmering rock". In the USA Rolling Stone commented, "the church have truly reaffirmed themselves as one of the world's leading melodic art-rock bands, regarded by critics as "a powerful, progressive force in rock music", playing "the most ethereal sounds this side of paradise" and have remained one of the world's most innovative and enigmatic groups justifying praises from the press including "Best guitar band on Earth", "Sonic perfection", "Sounds that caress the senses". "A masterpiece of stealth".

Ripple (the church) (Priest = Aura remastered)

06:22
One of my all-time favourite church songs, Ripple. I chose the 2005 remastered Priest=Aura version for this remake of the video. Last year's Ripple, I used the Deep in the Shallows version, which is about a minute shorter. And it has got over 2500 hits at YT. The photographs are from the collection of Estelle Moughton, with much thanks. And the videography, motion stills, editing, kaleidoscopics and all that stuff by DD.

The Church - Now I Wonder Why

05:40
The Church - Now I Wonder Why, from the album "Seance"... In a moment of triumph, I find defeat uncontrolled In the second of honor, a despair sharp and old She gives me a taste, please show me some etiquette I wasn't looking for you and I don't want to find you yet At an uncurtained window, in a street full of rooms Watching the gardens, and pursuing the blooms This world is so white, they never see me anymore But I trusted you then, and I'm trusting you still It's just that I'm not quite sure Now I wonder why, I thought I could ever lose But the gain is hardly what I'd choose Now I wonder why It was somebody, a woman, it was a delicate crime And I've been waiting for ages, yes I've been here all the time There was this greed in my blood, she let me take the easy way She helps me hide the vagabond, that was myself yesterday And after the acting, I found that I couldn't sleep And during my drifting, I found that I was too deep By the virtue of faith I knew that I could be lost Beyond this dark place Unprepared to pay the cost Now I wonder why, I thought I could ever lose But the gain is hardly what I'd choose Now I wonder why... USA: Local residents feel ripple effects of Sutherland Springs church shooting

02:45
Local residents commented the attack on the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs on Monday. One resident, Karen Barnes, defended the Second Amendment, saying "in a situation like this it could have prevented a lot more devastation." Another resident, David Casillas, said he was horrified by the incident as he had moved to Sutherland Springs from Houston after his son was killed in a shooting. An elder resident, Margaret Shummer, added, "it's the hugs, the tears, the care and the love is going to get us through, in a small community, this is a one big family." Authorities have reported that the gunman, 26-year old Devin Kelley, was found dead after escaping in his car, although it is unknown whether he killed himself or died from a gunshot fired by a local resident. The motive behind the attack has not yet been reported.
