What is BITCOIN CORE? What does BITCOIN CORE mean? BITCOIN CORE meaning, definition & explanation
What is BITCOIN CORE? What does BITCOIN CORE mean? BITCOIN CORE meaning - BITCOIN CORE definition - BITCOIN CORE explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Bitcoin Core is a reference client of bitcoin. Initially, the software was published by Satoshi Nakamoto under the name Bitcoin, then Bitcoin-Qt and later renamed to Bitcoin Core. It is also known as the Satoshi client. It is a full client used by bitcoin nodes that create the bitcoin network. Through the changes to Bitcoin Core, its developers make changes to the underlying bitcoin protocol. As of 2017, Bitcoin Core repositories are maintained by Wladimir J. van der Laan. The MIT Digital Currency Initiative funds some of development of Bitcoin Core. The project also maintains the cryptography library libsecp256k1 and others located at GitHub. In August 2016, a warning was issued regarding the software being targeted by state-sponsored attackers. The Bitcoin Foundation also warns that running the software may attract attacks which limit available download bandwidth. It includes a transaction verification engine and connects to the bitcoin network as a full node. Moreover, a wallet, which can be used to transfer funds, is included by default. The wallet allows for the sending and receiving of bitcoins. It does not facilitate the buying or selling of bitcoin. It allows users to generate QR codes to receive payment. The software validates the entire blockchain, which includes all bitcoin transactions ever. This distributed ledger which has reached more than 110 gigabytes in size must be downloaded or synchronised before full participation of the client may occur. A command line-based daemon with a JSON-RPC interface, bitcoind, is bundled with Bitcoin Core. It provides access to testnet, a global testing environment that imitates the bitcoin main network or Mainnet. It uses an alternative blockchain where real bitcoin are not used and the blockchain cannot be adversely affected. Regtest or Regression Test Mode creates a private blockchain which is used as a local testing environment. bitcoin-cli is the third program included. It allows users to send RPC commands to bitcoind. Checkpoints have been hard coded into the client. These maintain data integrity by keeping a part of the block chain data in the source code where it is able to be compared to the blockchain when its downloading is complete. A one megabyte block size limit was added in 2010 by Satoshi Nakamoto as a temporary anti-spam measure. This limited the maximum network capacity to about three transactions per second. Since then, some minor changes to the software have improved network capacity incrementally. A network alert system was included by Satoshi Nakamoto as a way of informing users of important news regarding bitcoin. In November 2016 it was retired. It had become obsolete as news on bitcoin is now widely disseminated. Miners are able to signal their decision on the incorporation of new features by voting. A powerful scripting language is used to define transactions. This Forth-like language is part of one of three distinct application programming interfaces. It can enable various transaction parameters. The script uses reverse Polish notation for validation. ScriptPubKey is used to "lock" transactions based on a set of future conditions. scriptSig is used to meet these conditions or "unlock" a transaction. Operations on the data are performed by various OP_Codes. Two stacks are used - main and alt. Looping is forbidden. ....

Bitcoin - The Birth of a new financial elite; or the end of the old one?
I address this common question in the Bitcoin space, and why I dont think it will be the case: "Due to the uneven distribution of the Bitcoin currency at this time; , If Bitcoin goes mainstream wont it just lead a new powerful financial elite or 1% and cause massive wealth inequality in the same way the existing global financial system does” My website - http://www.renegadeinvestor.co.uk/ Bitcoin Donations : https://blockchain.info/address/1MZsvRScdw57L7vGMZ2phPX9Pbi3tiBKW Protect your Bitcoins & Support the Channel: Buy your Bitcoin Trezor Storage Device here: https://shop.trezor.io?a=b48110ace31e Buy your Ledger Wallet Storage Device here: https://www.ledgerwallet.com/r/9d02 Buy Bitcoin here & Get a Bonus here: https://www.coinbase.com/join/55b0a28269702d3e8f00018d Intro music -Perturbator - Miami Disco http://www.perturbator.com/ Outro Music - Laser Hawk - So Far away https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39zKhsT5naI Bitcoin Gospel full Documentary - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zKuoqZLyKg Charts - https://bitcoinwisdom.com All content on or published by the 'Renegade Investor' website is provided for informational purposes only. What makes Vizionary and Capricoin different from Bitcoin in one word?
Click Here: http://cryptobiz360.com/ In today's webinar I share with you the difference between Vizionary/Capricoin and the Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies in one word. That's right I sum it up in one word today. Bitcoin is the pioneer into this space. It was introduced in 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitcoin was seen as a ponzi scheme by many and was mainly used by online gamers to pay gaming debts. Today we know that is no longer the case. Bitcoin is considered an asset by the U.S. Government. It is a real viable entity. In fact it is accepted by more than 300,000 retailers around the world. Companies like Dell, Microsoft, Expedia, Virgin Atlantic, and more. Today I explain the next revolution of cryptocurrency. An opportunity with unparalleled technology. Vizionary is the both the marketing arm and mining operation for the cryptocurrency Capricoin. It offers people an opportunity to get involved without all of the headaches and expensive startup costs. Capricoin is an instant digital payment solution. It offers security against the government controlled banks. There are many reasons to look at cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, Capricoin, and other Altcoins. I believe the future is in technology. Who controls Bitcoin Core
Who controls Bitcoin Core? Experts and cryptomarket participants ask quite often of who is this person controlling Bitcoin Core. And this project is frequently is mentioned as the controlling point for Bitcoin protocol. In this article we will try to find out if it is really true. Launch It is actually not the controlling organ of BTC, but management organ . Even if Bitcoin Core will stop its functioning, it will be replaced by something else. The fact that it works on GitHub is for convenience and not for some other purposes. If you find it suspicious, just recall that at first BTC existed as a “.rar” file, then he “moved” to SourceForge and only after that to GitHub. Project had got its name Bitcoin Core in 2014. As of now many developers think that it is the ideal realization of Bitcoin Network software. The hypothesis of the network is being controlled comes from the fact, that there are so-called “maintainers” on GitHub, who have admin rights for the storage, but in reality they are working as technical support of this storage. And in case if all the “maintainers” were really being able on adding some code into the main part it would've most likely led to a complete chaos. Many believe that in theory GitHub employees might be breaking the rules and apply the code while not being controlled by “maintainers”. But in this case there is a requirement of having a PNP-key of “maintainer”. But it is not the only controlling method. The thing is that Github uses an uninterruptable integration system. Confidants sign each code merge point. Yet again the keys are not guaranteeing 100% security from scammers, they are the means of making more difficult the illegal interference into the code. All the keys are owned by 5 people: Wladimir van der Laan, Pieter Wuille, Jonas Schnelli, Marco Falke and Samuel Dobson. You obviously can’t put all your trust in these people so you should understand that there is a possibility of them giving keys to third-parties. Therefore there is a multilayered security system meaning with only just keys you won’t be able to have control to the code. “Maintainers” From the outside point of view people might see Bitcoin core as a monolithic structure, but it really is not true. Influencers of this project were oftenly arguing with each other, but in the end they had to reach some consensus. “Maintainers” are participants, who already have contributed into the project and worked on it for a long period. They can also get more people into their team, but only after examining them for security measures. There is the “main maintainer” observing and coordinating the process. It is known about voluntarily passing this right first from Satoshi Nakamoto to Gavin Andersen and then to Vladimir van der Laan, who is still the “main” since 2014. Despite all of that, many people still do not understand that BTC development does not depend on structure of Bitcoin Core storage. The project isn’t controlled by anyone specifically and permanently. Let's say the “maintainers” hypothetically have gained control over the project and are preventing anyone on doin any actions, then the project will simply move to some other space and will just continue on developing in there. Is anyone actually controlling Bitcoin Core? It is impossible to fully understand BTC. It is compared to a language which is being developed naturally from how people are using it. They do not take words from dictionaries despite words are described in there. The dictionary describes the language, not defines it. And the code is the dictionary where the decisions are made by people. So people are the ones who control Bitcoin Core. If there was a specific point for controlling Bitcoin then it would've been the only vulnerable part. Every node operator himself monitors so that no one break rules they have set. This is the foundation for the security of Bitcoin’s bottom-up governance.

Bitcoin Q&A: Bitcoin vs. blockchain
What is the difference between Bitcoin and "blockchain"? Blockchains are only one of the foundational technologies. In an attempt to co-opt the interest around Bitcoin, companies and governments are trying to circle the square by creating centralised and permissioned versions while entirely missing the point: decentralization. Why Bitcoin developers are moving to other cryptocurrencies
Business Insider UK spoke with University of Cambridge Research Fellow Garrick Hileman about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and why developers are starting to move away from Bitcoin. "Bitcoin became number one in large part because it was first and for a long time it was really the only cryptocurrency game in town and so many developers who were interested in cryptocurrency kind of cut their teeth working on Bitcoin and remaining quite loyal to it." "a number of people have left the Bitcoin community to start other cryptocurrencies because they wanted to go in a different direction and I think the case for Ethereum is particularly important here it really shows that you can build something quite significant away from Bitcoin doing very different things" Watch the video to hear the full interview. -------------------------------------------------- Follow BI UK on Twitter: http://bit.ly/1Nz3jG3 Follow BI UK on Facebook: http://bit.ly/1VWDkiy Follow BI UK on Instagram: http://bit.ly/2gsLEds Read more on BI UK: uk.businessinsider.com -------------------------------------------------- Business Insider UK is the largest business news site for British readers and viewers in the UK. Gavin Andresen Throws Support Behind Bitcoin Cash
Satoshi Nakamotos Confidant Gavin Andresen Throws Support Behind Bitcoin Cash Gavin Andresen is the latest significant player in bitcoin to pledge support for bitcoin cash, referring to it as the chain most true to Satoshis original vision. In a tweet published on the 12th of November, Andresen has emphasized his belief that the high fees associated with BTC are undermining it as an effective means of exchange. “Bitcoin Cash Is What I Started Working on in 2010: A Store of Value and Means of Exchange. ”Former lead developer for bitcoin, Gavin Andresen, has thrown his support behind bitcoin cash. In a recent tweet, Andresen has published a comment effectively describing bitcoin cash as the successor to his early work on the bitcoin project. Andresens tweet speaks to the core utilities requisite of a money commodity, emphasizing the threat the high fees pose to bitcoins core mission of providing a fast and frictionless decentralized means of payment that is available for use by all. For many, without facilitating reduced barriers to access and ease of use for microtransactions, bitcoin runs the risk of principally being employed as a speculative asset used by individuals able to justify the significant costs now associated with making transactions. The tweet comes shortly after numerous businesses announced that they would be supporting bitcoin cash rather than BTC due to reduced fees.

Top Bitcoin Core Dev Greg Maxwell DevCore: Must watch talk on mining, block size, and more
Greg was one of the key architects of the two-way peg which makes sidechains possible. He has been a Bitcoin core developer since 2011, and is one of the most active reviewers of cryptographic protocol proposals in the Bitcoin industrial ecosystem. He has contributed to many widely-used techniques in the Bitcoin space, such as the homomorphic key derivation used in BIP32 and trustless privacy-preserving techniques such as CoinJoin and blinded proof of solvency. Greg is a long-time free software developer and comes to Blockstream from Mozilla where he contributed to the Daala video compression project and coauthored the Opus audio codec (RFC 6716). He also has over 15 years of experience developing, implementing and operating embedded systems and protocols for large-scale networking. For many in the Bitcoin community, Greg is likely the person telling you that your protocol is broken and why, but he usually feels pretty bad about it.

BTC News - Gavin Andresen Drops A New Concept On Github for Bitcoin Cash
Gavin Andresen Drops A New Concept On Github for Bitcoin CashOn January 2 one of the most well-known developers for the original bitcoin protocol, Gavin Andresen, contributed an idea to Github called “Storing the UTXO as a bit-vector.” Andresen has been active on Github for the past month as his contributions have been focused on general (Unspent Transaction Output) UTXO sets, but this particular idea is for the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) network. Also read:  The Developer Who Was Given the BTC Codebase Permissions from Satoshi Offers an Idea for BCH Network   Gavin Andresen has beenGithub for the past twenty-seven days, and on the second day of the new year, the developer contributed an idea for the BCH network. TheAndresen called “Half-baked thoughts exploring a different way of implementing a fully-validating BCH node,” is an idea on shifting the storage of full transaction data to wallets. The developer explains the concept is to let every node in the new network store a bit-vector for every block which can be highly compressible even for gigabyte-sized blocks. “This isn’t a problem today (the UTXO set easily fits in the RAM of an inexpensive server-class machine), but might eventually be at very large transaction volumes,” explains Andresen.Initial block download is a problem today (it is annoying to have to wait several hours or days to sync up a new node), and this scheme could make it orders of magnitude faster by shifting the time when full transaction data is broadcast from initial block download to new transaction announcement.‘Full-Node Operators Have the Right Incentives to Always Serve Correct UTXO Bit-Vectors’ Andresen believes the best option is to let “node operators hand-pick one or more semi-trusted nodes to get fast boot-strapping.” “That is simple, and there are plenty of full-node operators who have the right incentives to always serve up correct UTXO bit-vectors,” Andresen adds.     To ponder: is speeding up initial block download and saving memory at the cost of 2-3 times the bandwidth for new transaction announcements the right tradeoff? A gigabit per second connection is 75 gigabytes every ten minutes, so plenty of bandwidth for a few gigabytes of transaction data that translates into a gigabyte-sized block.Bitcoin Cash Community Asks: Is Gavin Back? Thecommunity seems elated that Andresen has contributed a new idea for the BCH network. On enthusiast on the /r/btc Reddit forum writes, “this is the first official confirmation that Gavin is building for BCH, unless I’m mistaken.” Many BCH supporters recollected the Tweet Andresen published this past November ;  Bitcoin Cash is what I started working on in 2010: a store of value AND means of exchange. What do you think about Gavin Andresen proposing the UTXO bit-vector idea for the Bitcoin Cash network?
