AMD's new RX Vega graphics cards have FINALLY arrived, but can they live up to the hype, or are they just hot air?

thank you for this video. I am on the fence with the 56 and the gtx 1070ti. even though its more expensive, i am considering the vega 56 because i have a wonderful 75 hz ultrawide 1080 p monitor. I want flawless 1080 p performance and i think this will deliver that for years to come. Will it?????
Guys, im trying to build my first pc with 1000 bucks. right now i have rx580 on my list. but should i wait and see if vega 56 comes down to 400? or should i just start my build with the rx580. id love to play most games on 1440p
Hi good to see its working for many but for mine rig its not i have 4 vega 56 and out of 4 it works only on 1 vega which gives around 1810-1830 Hsh and maintian temp of 65-72 celc but remaining 3 get heated 84-85 Celc and low down their Hsh speed around 1200-1400 which is low as compare 1800+ can you suggest me any tweak which can maintain all temperature cool like my 1st vega. Thanks
I can’t find any Liquid cooled versions. I guess the miners are still ripping us off. I hope it crashes like the 1929 not for the guys that are trying to make a little money with old hardware. But the big miners that buy everything. They should just put some code it that doesn’t let it mine and put it on the box!
Tell you something else Lambo, the game industry is now pay to play.
It's all over for gaming bro and no light at the end of that tunnel.
It's only gotten more expensive and promises were never kept.
It's time to punish. look at how many of the new chinese motherboards are failing.
What you failed to mention here is HMB2 memory is from samsung china.
I'm confident that once we wipe nVidia and china off the map we will be able to
get back to kicking the game industry right smack in their nintendo switch.
Why did you attempt to benchmark those cards with software not optimised for it's new features?
I call bogus on those benchmarks , with the exception of the power draws looking correct.
Doesn't really matter to me since my new policy is no more than $120 for any graphics card.
And no more than 170 watt draw on power, and a strong policy of peltier cooling only.
Nvidia with there Titan V and Founders Editionz and of course AMD with there Frontiers Edition and Vega also with a V in it, they all play with us i fell we all pay more for this shit as expected so no one wins for me >P
Ok, lets talk about a FAIR gaming comparison between Nvidia and AMD, How about using games that Weren't optimized for Nvidia cards by the Developer. Almost every game you guys do a comparison for has been optimized for Nvidia cards.
@ brandon pringle, my Dumb AMD was the first Company to hit the 3.0 Ghz mark. as for Nvidia, I had 2 P.C.s both for gaming, one had 2 GTX 1080 ti cards, which when the fried they took out the memory to processor bridge, and the memory. the other P.C. had a GTX 1050 ti, that when it fried it took out not only the Memory to Processor Bridge, and memory, it also fried the PCI/Processor Bridge. (they all failed very dramatically, releasing that secret blue smoke, which is difficult to do with an Asus Mil Spec board) I rebuilt the systems, installed 2 AMD RX580's in one, and an AMD RX560 on the other. (Mind you I have 2 other machines running old ATI Graphics cards that still run like new, along with a box of Failed Nvidia cards dating back to the Windows 98 era) Nivida doesn't share their source code, like AMD does, and Nvidia is pushing Game Devs to ONLY optimize for Nvidia G.P.U.s (which was my original post here.)
You can not make a fair comparison between the two cards IF the games you are using are ONLY optimized for Nvida GPUs which the ones shown in this test ARE! Nivida doesn't give a damn about their customers, nor do their care about gamers, because if they did, they would do something about the Miners buying up all the graphics cards, and jacking prices up so that no one can afford them except miners. Nvidia's only goal is to own the monopoly on graphics cards.
your dumb amd is staying afloat but the optimization is not really a factor i had a gtx 1080 my daughter poured juice in my pc while i was at work fried it but i took another chance with amd after being burned 4 times from bad products and got a rx580 8 gb thought it would be bad ass but it almost caught fire had terrible frame rates did costume fan curve updated drivers had one of the best 580s and it was terrible tons of power bad performance was forced to buy a gtx 1060 after and it out performs it in everything i throw at it and uses less power and im over clocking the shit out of my little 1060 waiting till 2020 for intells gpu but i do hope that intel and amd come together to make a gpu to combat the nvidia bullshit as of late
AMD just beat the crap out of 1070 ,if vega 64 is of a lower price than 1070 .i would go for it...Also,I dont mean to counter OR offend the publisher in any way.But i think comparing the performance of two gpu in accounts of thermal throttling is not right given that, both the gpus are based on two completely different microarchitecture and most importantly (the stream processor count is significantly more in vega 64 as compared to 1080,so if 1080 has 2500 stream processors clocked at say, 1.8 ghz at full load and amd has 3800 stream processors clocked at say 1.4 ghz ,TO GIVE THE SAME EQUIVALENT GRAPHICS PERFORMANCE (so of course it will be little bit hot, and throttle a bit but it gives the equivalent performance) .Then these two cannot be compared ..
AND ALSO FPS DIFFERENCE OF 3-5 fps Comes in the equivalence threshhold and one cannot say 1080 is better if it outputs 87 FPS and AMD is not good if it outputs 83 FPS on the same task ,as a computer science student i would say these two are equivalent ..And finally about some people criticizing AMD for consuming more power and saying it cannot make cards having lower tdp,Who the hell do you think you are to criticize AMD and its GPU's(ALTHOUGH ITS UR CHOICE to buy) but u still dont have the right to criticize..AND i would also say that a amd has really optiimized their vega architecture as u can see both 1080 and vega 64 runs at almost same temps at full LOADS..and oh! thanks for the bench LINUS,U ROCK!!!!!!!!!
With usual underclocks+undervolts which the entire vega community is doing didn't work for me to gain 2000+ h/s.. I had to do my own clocks & increase the power limit to 20%. This gave me stable 2050+ h/s per vega but however the temps are between 65-70 degrees. Are these temps safe for the long run (2+ yrs) ??? What are the safest temps for long term vega mining ? Im willing to bear electricity charges by cooling the ambience in AC and that's how im managing the temps between 65-70....Please advice..... @Linus Tech Tips
RealGaben [Warzoxx] Navi will be dogshit just like Vega. AMD cannot compete with Nvidia in GPUs, Radeon Technologies is shite.
At least they’ve definitely shaken up Intel for some competition. But don’t expect a single decent “enthusiast” grade GPU from AMD until they’ve decided to put some serious money into Radeon Technologies group.
if we rewind to about 2016 people were saying that exact sentence exept it went something more like this
"Vega probably better than pascal and Polaris" and we see how that went... AMD always overhypes their GPUs
