Yeah it does delete it off your phone but does it send it to apple after that ?
Leslie Thiara (2 months ago)
This removed that bulk (hundreds) of the diagnostic & usage data so that is a great improvement. However more than a half dozen "awdd-yyyy-mm-dd-######-####.consolidated.metriclog.anon" remain on the ipad...
Robert (3 months ago)
It uploaded to your laptop and uploaded from there to Apple. Great job. Your data still got transferred to Apple.
name's ash, housewares (4 months ago)
the diagnostic data is there to log bugs or shutdowns or kernel panics or whatever went wrong with the device. so that i can look it up and eventually see what is the problem. why the fuck would i delete this?
Justin McKinney (8 months ago)
This is Bullshit! In order to Sync to Itunes, you have to be online. This means that, the data you sync is sent! Basically, in order to delete data I have to send that data. Yet, I don't want this data sent, I don't want this data recorded to begin with!!! Piss Off Apple, Google, Facebook!!! Take you alogs and AI and Piss Off!!!

OK, here's what I learned about my iPad mini. If you're logged gets too long, this trip may not work if you've never had the send option off. What I had to do with mine is sync with iTunes before going into my iPad settings and totally resetting everything and removing all content before setting it up as a new iPad. I then connected it to my laptop and I had to also go into my iCloud settings on my iPad and disable find my iPad. After that it was able to sync with iTunes and retrieve my back up.  You may not be able to stop the logging, but all you have to do is hook up regularly to a computer or laptop with iTunes and it'll automatically sync with iTunes when you open iTunes on your computer or laptop Special note: If you have constant crashes and your device is constantly slowing down, the first thing you want to do is check your free space, especially if you don't have very many apps, media files or pics stored on your device. If you start having problems with crashes, running out of space and your device slowing down, go right into your settings under privacy and look for the usage and diagnostics and tap on that and keep following to see the log the system has been making, this is most likely your culprit

Syncing no longer removes diagnostics data.

This worked exactly as you showed it. I was at a point where I could not even take a photo. Thank you very much
Bubba John (1 year ago)
This no longer clears data.

I do not have diagnostic and usage tap from privacy
ChessGuru (1 year ago)
on my iphone 5 when I tap on privacy at the bottom theres only analytics and advertising. Diagnostics & Usage Data does not exist. even when I go from general and tap on About still don't see it there.

I'm using a windows and it won't let me sync into iTunes. I have iTunes and when I click on sync it doesn't work
Tomislav Živković (2 years ago)
u must click synchronize button to do it, not just connect and create security copy, and also automatic reporting must be disabled in iphone
Mike Hadley (2 years ago)
This actually doesn't work. I synced to iTunes and it said copying diagnostic and usage date, but it still remains on my IOS devices.

Great tip, this was driving me nuts. Those text files can really start to add up, and on a 16GB iPad every MB counts!
besrate hogsa (2 years ago)
IDB guy you suck man 👎👎👎 It did not work I tried it in 3 different IOS devices
Adrian Bryan (2 years ago)
As stated did not work for my iPad3. Diagnostic data is in Settings > Privacy > Diagnostics & Usage - last entry in list. Did iTunes Sync and waited for sync to finish . Go to Settings > Privacy > Diagnostics & Usage and all files have been removed. Removing 3 years worth of logs freed up about 1 Mb of space for me. I Hope this helps for you, if it did not the memory savings are probably minimal anyway.

Thank you

This copied most of the diagnostic and usage data off of my iPhone once I turned moved the setting from automatically send to "don't send" and synced with iTunes.  Afterwards I toggled it back on to let developers know when their apps are crashing.

i synced my iPhone to my mac and it did not remove the info from my iPhone. i don't know if I'm missing something.
Marcie Sawyer (4 years ago)
Then my iPod must be an oddity, because mine retains the last 7 days of logs despite being Synched.
John ryan Nato (4 years ago)
What is the effect of deleting logs in diagnostic and usage on my iphone 5s?
Caroline C (4 years ago)
Once you have done this, what happens to the information transferred to your pc from your iPad/iPhone? Do I need to erase this too, because I don't want my pc/iTunes being clogged up with the rubbish I erase from my iPad.... Any tips or advice is deffo appreciated...sorry to ask such dumb questions, but as you can guess, I'm far from technical intelligent haha... Many thanks :) x
redflare100 (4 years ago)
Thanks for the video. Never really knew what those were! Haha. Just curious,If it's all removed from your device does that mean it's all transferred to your computer or is all the diagnostics permanently removed? Cause if it's all transferred to the computer doesn't that mean it's taking up space on the computer then instead of the iphone/ipod?
