In Today's video I will be showing you how to overclock an RX 580 to 1500 mhz core and 9Gbps memory with Msi Afterburner. 1500 mhz is not guaranteed so I will also be showing you how to achieve 1450 and 1475 mhz boost. In order to to achieve 1500 mhz you will need an RX 580 with an 8+6pin or 8+8pin power configuration. For 9 GBps memory you will need an 8GB RX 580.
The graphics card i am using to day is the Sapphire Nitro+ 8gb 1411mhz edition. As always please post your overclocking score including core, memory and voltage tweaks.
PLEASE NOTE YOU OVERCLOCK AT YOUR OWN RISK :)

Pretty stable and okay w/ 1425mhz core/2075 mem clock speeds. Stable at 75c temps. Was able to achieve 1500mhz/2100mhz, but ran at 85c so I lowered back since the games I play aren't too gpu demanding.
I did all of this and got a whopping 3 fps more. Yay!! Actually that paltry gain is pretty worthless and not even noticeable in games. I instead undervolted and now my card gets up to about 65 degrees under extreme stress, uses only about 160 watts and levels out without any downclocking. I'll take that over 3 FPS any day.
ASUS ROG STRIX TOP OC
1490MHz/8648MHz (1431MHz/8000MHz stock)
69C @ 1.162V (1.150V stock)
I'd like to push for 1500+/9000 but I really don't like temps above 70 on my GPU. Rather keep the voltage lower at the sake of lower speeds.
+Ascinate ok. Ima post all my specs here
Psu: corsair rm 750x
Gpu: you already know
Cpu: i said it
Storage: Western digital 1 TB for apps and samsung 250 gb ssd for slow apps and windows
Mboard: said it
Ram: ballistix sport 16 gb ddr4
System: windows 10
yeha try get 500 w or higher with the 580 it states that for stable use you need 500w or higher so overclocking will require more power, causing ur psu to get diseased and ur pc will be unstable, super hot and crash
All you gain is like 3 fps with all that heat and power consumption. I don't really see the point. Maybe overclock when the card is not able to keep up with modern games to squeeze a little more life out of it in a few years but why do it now? That is the conclusion I came to anyway.
Sapphire Pulse RX580 8GB with MX2 Thermal paste replacement
1450 MHz Core
2250 MHz Memory
No changes to core voltage
Full power limit
Ran for 1 hour straight. Could probably push it to 1500MHz but I do not want to take the risk of changing core voltage.
+The Real Bleach solved!
I uninstall the msi afterburner, and try to mess up with amd wattman. Now i can going further, i can still have a stable result with gpu clock on 1440mhz and mem clock at 2100mhz.
hey i have Sapphire NITRO+ RX 580 8 GB OC i buy it after mining but it work fine max temp 79 and all good but now i watch alot videos and all have more gpu clock than me i have 1250 and memory 2200 how i can fix that?
Nice vid mate. I got a question though. I got the Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 4Gb (it has 8+6 pins). Why do I need to have an 8Gb card to get to the 9Gbps memory you mentioned? Also, another thing I don't get is that the overclockers UK site says the memory clock is 7000 Mhz for the 4Gb version and 8000 Mhz for the 8Gb version, while the Sapphire site says 1750 Mhz and 2000 Mhz respectively. Why is the OC UK site multiplying the memory clock by 4? If anyone could answer this, that'd be great. Thanks a lot!
Hey!! So i want to ask is it normal for my Rx 580 saphire 4GB gpu clock mhz going up to 1000 and then going back down and memory clock stays at 1000mhz or 300mhz is it normal?Tr3yFecta
Hey!! So i want to ask is it normal for my Rx 580 saphire 4GB gpu clock mhz going up to 1000 and then going back down and memory clock stays at 1000mhz or 300mhz is it normal?
Using msi rx 580 8gb and got these overclock settings without “crashing”: 70 mv, powerlimit 50, core clock 1500 and memory 2250. Have only used this in valley benchmark. I will try to benchmark these settings while i sleep tonight, havent tried gaming either yet
I have that gigabyte card you showed in video. I can get it to 1480/2250 with max voltage but temps get up to 80°c with fan over 2000rpm. I have just undervolted it -50mV with 1340/2100 and it stays in 60°c-70°c with 1800rpm.
I have the MSI RX 580 8 gb Armored OC, and got mine running at 1500 Mhz and 2250 Mhz on mem and run powerlimit 50% and +43 Mv, I used to run lower voltage and it seemed to run I added a little. It even seem to run with no voltage but wanted to ensure 100% stability. I have been running this now for probably over a month with out issues.
Temps have been really nice, 60 - 65C in most games because I run at 60 fps only my games so in many cases the card is not working that hard. If I push it as hard as I can I think I hit 67 C or 70 maybe, cant recall now but the temps has been good.
Maxing voltage can cause crashes. It also makes your card run much hotter when the GPU gets more voltage than it needs. You are much better off leaving the stock clock and undervolting it. You may gain a little and the card will run cooler and maintain its clock speeds under stress. Even the best 580 overclocks are going to gain you maybe 3 fps, is that really worth it?
Instead of setting the fan to 100% (which is LOUD btw), it's better to create a custom fan curve in afterburner so your fans aren't running 100% 24/7
Other than that, your settings seem to work, I seem to be holding 1500/2250 as long as I keep the temps as close to 60 as possible. If I get up to like 72 I get crashes
I have reached that overclocking frequency setting in letter those parameters and everything is fluid with temp of the GPU under stress less than 75 ° my Gpu is a: SAPPHIRE NITRO + RX580 8 GB SPECIAL EDITION overclock: 1500MHz Core and 2250MHz Memory
So I have this exact card and when running heaven at stock to get a baseline I am getting multiple drops to 0% GPU usage. Anywhere from 3 to 5 times throughout the benchmark. Is this normal? I literally just got this card.
Unless you've done a bios mod or set unlock extended voltage limits both amd and Nvidia cards are locked down to stay well within safe voltages the card can handle. Afterburner can't give it more than they can handle as the cards won't allow it.
Anyone have an RX 580 Armor MK2 they have overclocked? I recently over clocked mine but left it at 1450mhz, without adjusting voltage. I tried adjusting the core clock from 2000 to 2150, but the weird thing was that the performance became worse in benchmarks. Tested several times in serveral benchmarks, same result - worse performance at 2150 memory than 2000. Anyone have this same model with over clocked results or know why this is happening?
i have the Sapphire Nitro + Special edition. Goes easy at 2250 (max) memmory but no way to reach 1500 on cpu. Max 1465 super stable with 50% power limit. Either reducing the power limit or increasing the core will insta-crash.
1dirosa1 .Michael Dirosa I’m coming for you lol. Mine is at 1540 core with stock voltage so far. Temps are at 67c with the stock fan curve. However, my 1500x will probably hold me back in actual benchmark scores. Also, mem clock is at 2230, and I’m pretty confident I can do 2250.
seems like I got the good card, running 1524 main core clock and 2250 memory, no problems yet. I got to 1489 without the voltage and anything above that gave weird glitches in textures, its running 65 degrees MAX. im going to see if I can push this even higher. btw what does the voltage do? I am very new to overclocking
update, it seems like 1540 is stable above that it crashed, that's quite the overclock 200 MHz, not bad for someone who has never overclocked (to the max, I have overclocked before but the max what the card could handle)
580 nitro+ 8gb
Power limit +50
Core Clock 1600mhz
Max temp 65c fan at 50%
Can put it up 1700mhz core clock with +50 but don't like the temp being 70c
Every game 60fps only have 60hz 1080p moniter max settings every game best 280$ spent
I used msi kombuster because heaven took forever to dl. I have the Msi armor mk2 8 gb 8 pin power only and was able to hit the 1500mhz core and 2250 mem. On stock speeds its about 90 fps and on oc its around 100
