I only use the 4in1 USB PCIE adapter now, and its working great. as for the rig in this video, im not sure how this one is going, i suppose its still running strong, but this video was given to me to post by Robert. (see description)
Hi Cryptomined, I have been succesfully mining with 9 cards on this motherboard using both the m.2 ports. Now I added a 1-4 card to allow more cards. I have 10 cards plugged in but after a couple of hours one of the cards stop and it only mines with 9. Do you know why it keeps dropping the 10th card? BTW I'm using HiveOS and I have plugged 3 cards into the 1-4 port.
Im not sure, what 1-4 are you using? I like the 4in1 usb extender here: https://cryptomined.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_373_379&products_id=369 I use it on one of my rigs to add an extra card, works great, but thats just using it for 2 of the possible 4, i haven't tried with more yet.
Can I build with this MB mixed AMD Nvidia 12 GPU rig? I will have to buy used graphic cards- every month I want to add one or two cards according offerings. So sometimes it can be AMD card, sometimes nvidia. So is it possible to use for example 4x 1060 6Gb, 1x 1070, and 7x some AMD stuff? If no, what is maximum. I bought this MB yesterday and maybe it is not the best solution for the price and for my problem I could pay a liitle more and buy special MB like Biostar or asus with a lot of pcie's. I don't know. So I need to know if I have return z270a or not. Not to mention extra money for pcie extender. On the other hand some users reports problems with biostars BTC mobos too. Every minig rig is original but I very appreciate your opinions.
Sorry if I missed it or missed a comment about it. Are using a 15amp or 20amp circuit, or 2 15amps? I wonder how many people out there are continuously drawing 1600+watts from a 15 amp circuit, which exceeds the safe continuous load of 1440w. Both the wires and breakers are only rated for more than 1440w for no more than 3 hours. Just wondering how many old homes are going to burn down with wires and panels catching fire. Just an electrical minded person. Max I load any circuit is the rated 80% for my miners.
they have a pcie lane max but im not sure how much that effects how many GPUs can be put on the board... for example, i have used a 1-3 extender on a 1x slot to add an extra GPU, you can see that worked for me in a previous video on the asorck pro btc h81... so yeah, although the boards have a PCIE lane count, again im not exactly sure how that works in accordance to how many GPUs can actually run on one lane... I had believed that PCIE lanes were a major limitation, such as with Z170 boards which had fewer PCIE lanes... but I guess it has more to do with how the motherboard is programmed to use those PCIE lanes... I'm not a motherboard expert per say, i can just speak from my own experience, so a better answer could be given by a motherboard producer such as asrock for example,. but even then... im not sure if they know the real max unless they have tried everything. In regards to Z270A, we can see that on the ASus B250 that atleast 19 can be run, and you can even run more on it... so again im not sure... I forget if hte PCIE lane count on those boards + CPU is 24 or 28, id have to double check,.. ive seen an older video of a rig running something like 30 GPUs or atleast showing that it is possible to attach that many to an older motherboard... i dont think they actually showed it mining... and Asrock did tell me that they have seen people get about that many to work on a board... so again... those details and how that all works is beyond my current understanding of PCIE lanes
Thank you! And then combine it with some AMD's? I am planning to use nicehash (because it automatically mines the best coin to mine everyday, instead of using different scripts if another coin is more profitable)..
I can get rx580 4GB's for about €300 here
if i were you i would just go with 8 of the 1070tis.. ive been buying 1070ti, 1080ti, and vega 64/56.. you should check whattomine.com for hashrates on different cards, they have selectors for all those cards with default values on the top minable coins.
Hi Akin, just passing through. 1, I'd check your Mbod is running the latest firmware. Update if necessary. 2, Have you tried switching GPU around - you may have a faulty GPY. 3, Have you tried switching the "faulty " M.2-2 adapter & GPU over to the M.2-1 plug. If it works the AZ70 M.2-2 plug would seem to be faulty. If it doesn't work then either M2.2 adapter or one of its cables or GPU is likely to be faulty. Switch those around with knowing working ones to isolate the fault. Have fun.
Hey brot, very good video!...I wanted to ask you if you already have experience or opinions about the rig with 12 gpu or more using Windows 10 and the driver of AMD 17.10.2, although everything works since the 12 cards are detected ... You have been able to use bios modified in the gpu and being able to change the clock by MSI Afterburner? I await your comments...Thanks
Which one do you like better the ASUS or the ASROCK, and why? Also lets say you had 13 1080 Tis, would you be able to hook all the PSUs power cords into a power surge brick (CyberPower CP1500AVRLCD) , which would plug into a Kill A Watt Usage Monitor which is all plugged into one home wall socket. Would that work?
for mining i would imagine its not worth it as you probably want to reduce power draw to keep temps down anyways. for resale after mining, maybe they will be worth slightly more, but then again, there will be 1180ti and 1280ti around when you probably try to sell them if you do so.. probably not really worth it. id stick with the cheaper 1080tis for mining, as long as cooling is good... at least thats my opinion... though my 1080tis cost me an arm and a leg....
i am new to all this and have a rig of 6 sapphire rx 470 (samsung) mining editon cards running on win10. I have asus z270-p mainboard. I change the bios of the cards, but i was unable to change the clock speed of cpu and memory and the power consumption of the cards with AB or Trixx. With this OS it seems very simple to change those values. But how do you change the BIOS? Do you put a card in a computer with windows and change value of stripes there (or whatever they are called TIMING VALUES; copying 1500 to 1625, 1750 and 2000)? And than put it back into this rig?
Or does anyone else know why i cant change the values in AB or Trixx for these cards?
Oh you mean i can change that wiht polarisbios editor? not just copying the 1500 values to 1625, etc, but i can also change the cpu, memory speed and power? That is cool but getting the sweetspoot will be a pain in the ass doing it like this ...
Hi. Can i ask why my psu melt my 6 pin connector to sata. That sata is only powering 2 riser cables.
I have 1200 corsair platinum modular psu.
My gpus are
2 rx 570 pulse
1 rx 570 pulse mini
1 rx 580 sapp nitro + 8gb
1 rx 460 2gb gigabyte
Thanks for help.
hi im really enjoy to watching your video ... and i have a question for you that i have 6 of rx580 4gb, but it only can get 5 on my mainboad , how does it possible tp get 6 gpu on h270 ? i have changed above 4g into enable
Amazing work. I would definitely just buy a H110 Pro BTC+ 13 slot board and be done with it but this is really cool if you don't want to spend 125 bucks on a new mobo and don't mind spending 20 for 2 m.2 and 50 or 60 for the expansion hub.
You have a nice rig. I am going to copy your rig to build one for myself. There is a question I want to ask. There is so many GPUs and how you can tell which one is #1 and which one is #2 and so on. I am afraid something goes wrong and I do not know which one caused the problem.
Hi bro, i just wanna what mobos BIOS did u use?, Gen 1 or 2 for the ports, also the speed gen 1 or 2, i know 4 gdecoding its mandatory, And what elses cos i have the same mobo, but cant detect more than 3, also i use simplemining. I Hope u can help.
i use the same exact setup, all detected 12 gpu, but when it start hashing, gpu that's plugged to pciE extender 1 to 4, showing just once hashing, after that it shows 0 Mh/s not hashing, can you help me, do you know where the problem is?
Judy Husin, try plugging the 1-4 in m.2 ports. Also, try removing a few cards from other ports until you get all 4 cards on the 1-4 hashing. Or plug only the 1-4 in the first or second x16 pcie and see if all 4 cards hash, if not it may be a defective 1-4
I stayed without work and have some savings, was thinking to make 4 rigs with 8 x 1080ti and start mining zcash to help myself and support family until i get another job, but i am not sure i will do. Its just somethjing i don't know, and i am bit scared to gamble money i have.
Hi I'm hesitating between 2x 6gpu rig or a single 12 gpu rig. One advantage of 2x 6gpu is I can use a2 cheap rackmount server and put them in a rackmount I already have. for sure qith a single 12 one you save a mobo, cpu and ram and your case seems pretty cheap, but maybe the mobo will last a shorter amount of time? Can you tell me what could be some pro and cons of each alternative?
Hello Cryptomined thanks for all the great vids!
i got a small issue!
got me the sapphire nitro+ 570 8 gb (hynix) and i cant seem to bios mod them + that the timingstrap goes to 0: 2250
help me please!
i only have one set 0:
i found a bios from a guy on Anorak.tech, it seems to work.
getting 29+ Mh/s
what i did not understand was why i was getting higher hashrate when i went higher on the coreclock. i starten on 1050 best was 1299
Typically reference cards only have one power connection and then the custom ones add extra. My understanding of this is that the card only needs the single 8pin to get its power requirements, and the second is added to increase stability and allow the card to not be bottlenecked if 1 connector doesn't reach the requirement.
So now that RX Vega has been announced, you think RX56 is a good investment? Or is it worth another $100 for RX64?
$400 is already kinda steep for mining, but Im sure the difficultly is gonna jump once people get these cards.
How is this possible? My RX580 rig can't run more than 6 GPUs or it shuts down. I am using z270-p instead but dang! I'm at 1250 Watts on 2 750w PSU. I have a few rx580s just sitting in my desk. I'd love to know how to get the power consumption down. 130-140 is the best I can get.
Love it when you guys all say, plugged it in, no hassles. Oh to be apart of that word. After spending 6 hours troubleshooting I finaly get the damn thing to work and NiceHash refuses to recognise my bastard address. And BitGo doesnt have any of my other miners eth transferred. 1 issue follows another 5
Brock Huffaker Check your risers bro. I struggled for 2 weeks too. I was seeing all kinds of random behaviour. Some times 4 cards, sometimes 5, sometimes 6. Very inconsistent and random behaviour on every boot. I could have sworn it was the motherboard. Turns out one of the risers was faulty. I think it was causing a short circuit due to poor quality soldering. Now it's runs as sweet as a nut and has been stable for a couple of weeks. I'm using power risers (version 7's and 8's).
Nice setup! I just received my biostar 12 GPU mobo. do you think if i tried using a 1to4 PCI-E Extender to add more GPU's, i would run into any issues? I'm interested in seeing just how far we can push these things :D
Nice share @cryptomined and Robert , Robert if your card are OC version change your CC to 1180 & MC to 2150 it can give you stable 28.6 to 28.8 Mhz on Eth as your already Modd your bios with Straps
If you feel its taking more power with CC 1180 lower it to 1150 will reduce some hashrate also around .5 Mhz
Regarding Strap for 580 : with default bios rate was 20 Mhz after Strap increase to 26 Mhz and by Modd CC and MC its now 28.6 to 28.8 Mhz.
I flashed 2:1750, 2:2000, 2:2250 timings with this strap:
Dear my cards are big different , its Sapphire Nitro+ 580 8GB OC and they support upto 2250 MC so I increase upto 2150 which is stable with no crash. For me I tested 2200 which was also stable but I reduce to 2150 to avoid heavy load on MC.
Better test by one of the card in windows with Afterburner incremental of 10,10 in MC and if you found stable timing let it run for few hours and then you set the same setting in SMOS.
Rozemberg Azevedo there's a setting on your motherboard's bios you need to change. I can't remember off the top of my head, but it will allow you to use more than 4 gpus. I had the same problem, found the answer with some Googleing.
