this is odd.. I have 5x Gigabyte Rx 570 with elpida and the timing(mhz) is the same as your hynix, and also one msi rx 570 armor, and the timing(mhz) is the same as your Elpida... something doesnt add up here :D

I own Sapphire nitro+ RX 480 4g with HYNIX memory. Is there any way to edit bios?
Almir Fiorio (1 year ago)
Dear Friend,. im have 2 cards of Sapphire RX470 4GB OC (Not Nitro). I can only put the memory clock at most until 1900. If I try 1950 the computer hangs. What parameters do you recommend to try to reach the maximum and get 2000?

I just got a batch of MSI RX 470 Gaming X gpu's delivered. They have "SAMSUNG" memory instead of "Hynix" is there any difference in the strapping for these two different memory types as there was with the Elpida?
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
+Lawrence Aberle thats good
Lawrence Aberle (1 year ago)
Many people on forums were telling me to use the 1750 for the Samsung memory. It worked great. It matched the 1500 strap for the Hynix as far as performance.

I have heard lots of people getting samsung now, I don't know exactly as I have not tried to mod them myself.
Quick question, you recommend the XFX cards as the best alternative to the Sapphires, although the ASUS strix have a bit higher core clock (1256 vs 1270). Would this mean i could squeeze out a little extra hash from the ASUS? Or is your recommendation based on build quality and not performance. Thanks in advance!
good to know. i was searching for info on the asus cards and not coming up with much, so XFX its is!
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
well yes I use XFX and nitro, so i guess i should recommend what I use. for the strixx 470 i read someone say this: "If so its the worst 470 because you can't properly undervolt it." not sure on how true it is but maybe something to learn more about if you are considering the Asus cards.

Any solution for samsung mem versions?
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
the 480 8g i have is samsung memory i used sapphire nitro 480 8g samsung and XFX 480 8g samsung with that DIY video, you should watch your core clock and try to undervolt so you dont use up too much watts though
Vicoveanu Catalin (1 year ago)
sorry , the same with hynix (hynix=samsung)
Vicoveanu Catalin (1 year ago)
They look the same in polaris bios hynix/elpida/samsung. Shure there is no problem with samsung mem? There is no tutorial for modding video cards with samsung memmory....
Vicoveanu Catalin (1 year ago)
Yes , saphire rx470 8gb oc
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
the 8g cards? if so check out my first video

Cryptomined does this bios mod work for any other coin?.. ETH, Monero, Dash... Etc..?
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
+Ahmed Abu Elkhair i need to get an elpida card first i think
Ahmed Abu Elkhair (1 year ago)
Please make a tutorial for Elpida Vram with the new polaris bios editor
klmn o (1 year ago)
Could you recommend the best card to get? I have a small budget and will only be getting one but adding 5 more later and there's no graph or anything online of how everything makes sense(how the manifacturor of vram matters and so on). Thanks in advance.
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
+klmn o yeah maybe im not sure the difference on miners like for monero or zcash between 470 4g and 480 4g.
klmn o (1 year ago)
Cryptomined Oh.. alright, thanks for the info once more but it might still be worth it just because other competitive cryptocurrency miners might run better on it, That's my homework for the night.
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
+klmn o not sure if 480 4g will give extra hash, the 480 8g will give an extra few MH/s for ethereum, the 480 4g hashes at the same rate as the 470 4g
klmn o (1 year ago)
Cryptomined no it would be solely for mining but the thing is that its just 10 euros more expensive and seems like a steal for the extra 4-8 MH/s
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
should yeah, just use the 470 4g tutorial if its a 4g card, or 480 8g tutorial if its an 8g card, but make sure you check the memory and use the proper polaris bios editor (elpida for elpida and the regular for hynix or samsung)... ive heard some cards have mircon memory so im not sure about those or which do if any do but remember 480 takes up a bit more power, but if you want to use it for gaming also then it could be a bit better
wildiazdelgado (1 year ago)
Hello Cryptomined, there is another type of memory in rx470 8gb version, it's "Micron" i have this card from MSI. I edited the bios using the polartis editor changing the timing as you do for Hynix, but gain just 2 mh/s more per card, thanks for all the videos
victoromania (1 year ago)
what about straping timing in rx480 gigabyte g1 gaming?did uou modded bios yet?because have hynix with 1750mhz..not 2000.should i strap 1500 value to all higher values? beat rgds
MobileTechLife (1 year ago)
Any recommended mods for MSI Gaming X RX480 modded bios for those that are running Hynix?
I own 16x gigabyte RX 470 4G they do have Hynix memory but to keep them stable I only overclock them to 1900mhz on memory they might go to 2000-2100 but I am usually not at home so if the miner crashes I can't start it until I get back home

powercolors arent so bad but the lack of cooling is not good mining anything that uses more core on the powercolors will prolly kill the cards fast if u dont know what ur doin im sure theres others like me who dont like asus or xfx so there is a 3rd option the msi 470 4gb is hynix and has great cooling and overall build quality
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
+Cid Sapient yes, if you want hynix at this point, may be best to go with another brand to be more or less certain you will get it.
Cid Sapient (1 year ago)
thx yea found it but he doesnt know either for sure at least i dont really want to get into hex editing again been years since i did that and i used to have a program that scanned memory for hex addresses being used and it still took forever so ill prolly just grab 1 and grab more msi only like $5 more for the msi
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
+Cid Sapient yea check the buried one ethereum's videos, he noticed a difference in serial numbers on the boxes or something, you will have to watch the video to see the numbers
Cid Sapient (1 year ago)
i dont have any 4GB models i havent bought any yet i dont want to till i know if its elpida or hynix and no one lists the model number
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
1. you can check if its Elpida by using GPUZ. 2. just check and compare the vender ID and device ID that you see in your original bios and the modded bios... if all of those IDs match it should be the same.

Hello i bought a Rx 470 8Gb sapphire nitro but it came with samsung memory, i saw in the rx 480 video it use samsong memory too, there is a problem if i mod my bios (rx 470) following the rx 480 tutorial? I DONT GO TO USE YOUR MODEED BIOS, I WILL MODDIFIE MINE :D
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
its ok, some cards can get 2200, some wont be able to. each card will have a different overclock max. if you find 2100 is the highest you can go without crashing, then use that. use as high as you can that is stable. glad the bios mod worked for you. so you copied the 1750 timing to the 2000 strap?
Roberto Cubero (1 year ago)
Excelent i follow the rx480 guide on my 470 and works great but i cant make 2200mhz on de memory top is 2100 you know if i can change or the top is 2100 because of the manufacturer
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
its ok if you modify your own as I did in the first video (30-31 MH/s RX480 8G AMD Sapphire Nitro+ Bios Mod Ethereum Mining...)... same memory, same timings.... just dont use a pre-made 480 8g bios on your card as the device ID etc will not match and it will screw up... so just backup your bios, open polaris bios editor, copy the 1750 timing to 2000 (you can also try to copy the 1625 timing to 1750 after copying the 1750 timing to the 2000 strap, some people do that, you can see what works best for you if any difference. I found just copying the 1750 to 2000 works fine for me, infact my XFX card tended to crash once in a while when I copied the 1625 to 1750) then save your bios and flash your card, ... remember to flash on the silent bios... and remember to back up your original bios incase of any problems (bad flash, for some reason your card doesn't like the timings) Try that and please report back to let us know that it worked for you and your old and new hash rates. Thanks!

nice one mate ...yeah I didn't get anything when I ordered my 6 x rx480's lol
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
Yes, i dont think they will change from samsung anyways... though I went out and bought more 470s today to build another rig.... i guess im a preferred customer as I got to go to the warehouse/distribution center (not sure who owns it as they also had corsair products, but it did say Sapphire on the front desk in huge 1 foot long letters) and select my cards from a freshly opened case... also gave my 3 high quality plastic Sapphire bags, like the ones you can buy to re-use for shopping. Wondering if I should give one away in a video somehow... if people like them. they are kind of interesting. Do people usually get sapphire gift shopping bags? i didn't get them when I bought my first 6 cards - I guess they sit in the sapphire distribution center that I went to here. Next time I go back in 1-2 weeks ill take some photos of the desk and cases of cards.

Are they doing it with the 8G's too? Or are it just the 4G that they changed?
Cryptomined (1 year ago)
just the 4G, 8Gs will probably always use samsung, so I wouldn't worry with those. samsung makes great DDR5 so I don't see them changing, even if they had a cheaper alternative. Not sure why they changed to elpida, maybe the timings are a bit tighter... maybe they sold out of the first run and arranged a lower price with elpida than hynix.
